Kicked off a major boost for women’s football in NSW today with a $400,000 investment ahead of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026! The NSW Football Legacy Program will deliver five game-changing initiatives—from leadership and mentoring, to body image and wellbeing programs, and First Nations pathways—supporting women and girls on and off the field. It’s all about creating a legacy and making football more inclusive, flexible, and empowering for the next generation! The NSW Football Legacy Program is a key outcome of the NSW Government’s women’s sport strategy; Play Her Way which aims to enable more women and girls to play and stay involved in sport.

In Australia, women remain significantly underrepresented in professional coaching roles, particularly at the high-performance level. 💡 As of 2024, women held less than 10% of head coaching positions across the top 36 funded high-performance sports in Australia. 💡 At the Paris 2024 Olympics, only 18.6% of Australia's elite coaches were women. 💡 Research indicates that women often exit the coaching pathway due to a lack of support, limited flexible work arrangements, and cultural norms that hinder progression. The scarcity of female role models in senior coaching positions contributes to the ongoing gender gap - which is why I am SO incredibly honoured to be representing Samantha Woosnam as her new agent. This weeks Uncomfortable Growth® Uncut episode in partnership with Mediaweek Australia features the indomitable and incorrigible Andrew Howie GAICD. Howie is what I call "his own person". His story starts with his father cutting short his skiing instructor career dream by insisting he go to Uni, which then led to a diverse career of great success, as well as uncomfortable challenges. I loved our discussion on different cultures, and how what is a strength in one company culture can be seen as a "development area" in another, highlighting that our internal capabilities are not gone or diminished, just because we may not fit in a specific company culture. Finding that place where who we are, and what a company values - is when we become unleashed and do our greatest work. My favourite quote from this episode: “I think as you get older....you know when to shut up.” There are so many great insights through Howies story - shared with his candid "just say it as it is" storytelling style - I know you will enjoy it.
