We're excited to announce that Genus has secured a $65m contract from Atmos Renewables to design and construct the Merredin Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) & Substation Works in Western Australia. Located in WA’s Wheatbelt, the 100MW, 4-hour BESS will enhance grid reliability and support the Western Australian Electricity Market as renewable generation increases. Adjacent to the Merredin Solar Farm, the project will be delivered over an 18-month period - commencing once Genus receives a notice to proceed subject to Atmos Renewables achieving financial close in coming weeks; with completion expected in early 2027. This contract builds on Genus’ growing momentum in the renewable energy transition space, further expanding our capability and presence in the Battery Energy Storage Market. The Merredin BESS adds to our strong track record in delivering complex, large-scale energy infrastructure that underpins Australia’s clean energy future. At the Energy Users Association of Australia National Conference, our GM Energy Solutions East Sean Fleming emphasised that domestic gas is vital for reliable, affordable and lower-emission energy. Sean highlighted APA Group’s five-year East Coast Gas Grid Expansion Plan, which can boost north-to-south gas transport capacity by about 25%, unlocking significant gas supply from places like the Surat and the Beetaloo to power homes and businesses along the east coast. Becoming reliant on LNG imports will set the price of domestic gas and have a detrimental impact on consumer prices and on industry. The expansion of APA’s existing east coast gas grid provides a transparent, lower-cost alternative that will help keep energy costs down for businesses and households. ⚡ Supporting Queensland’s energy future! Did you know, the Webuild Group played a major role in the expansion of the Roma to Brisbane Gas Pipeline? Delivering Stages 4, 5, and 6, this expansion project helped secure a more stable energy future for Queensland. 🏗️ Stage 4 involved delivery of 51km of pipeline looping across four vastly different terrains, from open forest and farmland to the challenging Toowoomba Range and Ipswich’s city streets. A key challenge overcome was working in a very restrictive construction area due to a tight 15m wide easement. 👷‍♀️ Stage 5 involved delivery of 160km pipeline, plus lateral pipeline connecting to Swanbank Power Station and the Scotia gas field. Crews installed up to 8km of pipeline per day, navigating narrow corridors, power lines, and culturally sensitive land with the support of Cultural Heritage Monitors. 💫 Stage 6 brought the pipeline right into Brisbane with the delivery of a 9.5km section through urban areas. The route presented numerous challenges, including proximity to high-tension power lines and urban properties. The completed Stage 6 contract allowed the Roma to Brisbane pipeline to operate with maximum efficiency, increasing gas capacity for South East Queensland. Exciting development over the weekend with Bell Bay Power Fuels being named the provisional proponent for the Tasmanian Green Hydrogen Hub in the Bell Bay Advanced Manufacturing Zone. Congratulations to Bell Bay Power Fuels including AHC Member ABEL Energy and ZEN Energy for their role in progressing the development of this project which includes a $2 billion green methanol production facility. Once complete, the plant will produce 360,000 tonnes of green methanol annually, using 100% renewable energy and local resources, a critical step forward in Australia’s transition to clean maritime and aviation fuels. Around 740 direct and indirect jobs are expected to be created, including energy specialists such as engineers and technicians. The Tasmanian Green Hydrogen Hub is one of the hydrogen hubs funded by the Australian Government with $70m previously allocated. Completion of the front end engineering and design (FEED) phase is expected in late 2025, with a final investment decision in late 2026 and production commencing in 2029. Big day tomorrow for Queensland’s energy future. The QLD Energy Roadmap drops and for anyone working in renewables & transmission… it’s a big one. There’s excitement, there’s anticipation, and if I’m honest…….. a hint of nerves too. This roadmap will shape how (and how fast) we deliver projects, build workforce capability, and connect renewables right across the state. It’s not just policy…. it’s the signal for what comes next. Here’s hoping for ambition, clarity, and momentum. 🌞⚡

Renewable energy is bringing thousands of jobs to regions right across Australia.   This morning, the Townsville Bulletin published a round-up of major projects bringing jobs and major benefits to Central Queensland.   Potentia Energy is proud its proposed Capricorn BESS has been included in a list of 17 major projects in the region.   The proposed 300 MW/1200MWh BESS project was also recently announced as a successful project in the latest tender for the Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS).   It's great to see our project highlighted, as Queensland continues to play a critical role in the energy transition. https://lnkd.in/g75WA8FK Werther Esposito Sunny R. Collgar Renewables is unlocking new value for Rest members and continues to show the power of long-term active ownership. ⚡ Collgar Renewables, which is wholly owned by Rest, has this year announced 2 agreements for the Collgar Wind Farm in Western Australia. These include a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with Newmont Corporation to provide 100% of the farm’s electricity and green credits to the Boddington mine as well as finalising a financing package.
