Excellent article from Tom Allen CEO and Founder of Impact Boom - and delivery partner of AMP Foundation Tomorrow Maker programme
The AMP Foundation purpose is to help people create their tomorrow. Our help comes in the form of capability development and funding. For over 30 years, the AMP Foundation has helped community-based organisations dedicated to helping those in need. Our mandate is to deliver meaningful social impact, and our grants have powered many of the organisations that now form the backbone of Australia’s nonprofit and social enterprise sectors. The AMP Foundation purchased the first social impact bond in Australia and helped fund the establishment of Social Ventures Australia (SVA) and the Centre for Social Impact (CSI). Today, we have a three-pronged approach to achieving our social impact: impact investing; social enterprise development; and philanthropy in the form of dollar-matching AMP employee philanthropic endeavours. Social impact is integral to who we are. At the heart of our work is a simple belief that our role is to make things easier for those who are creating a better tomorrow for people experiencing disadvantage. Our help is a combination of capability development and funding, and we fulfill our purpose through two avenues: 1. Our corpus investment has two components: A diversified investment portfolio in the mainstream Australian markets with a minimum endeavour to "do no harm". 2. An impact investment portfolio, representing 10% of our corpus, that addresses critical social issues. Our annual programs: Our Tomorrow Makers program and our AMPlifiers program are the heartbeat of the AMP Foundation’s ongoing social impact.

And so concludes the final behind-the-scenes tour of 2025. Huge thanks goes out to Annette Brodie and the team The Reconnect Project for hosting the tour yesterday and for the generous support of #WestpacFoundation and the AMP Foundation which have enabled us to run these tours. Thanks to everone who has been able to make it along to a tour this year as well as the other social enterprises, FoodLab , Revolve ReCYCLING & Studio A for allowing people an opportunity to visit and to gain a deeper understanding of the incredible work you do! #SocialEnterprise #WorkIntegrated #BusinnessForGood #CircularEconomy #Impact

Today I had the immense pleasure of taking a Behind the Scenes tour of the The Reconnect Project, hosted by Social Enterprise Council of NSW & ACT (SECNA). The Reconnect Project is a truly incredible organisation putting people and planet first: ✅ They meticulously repair and refurbish old electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops) with a commitment to quality and sustainability you can trust. ✅ They are closing the digital gap - partnering with case workers from a wide range of support agencies to ensure refurbished devices reach those who need them most. ✅ Their training program (the very first Mobile Device Repair Technician Training Course to be offered in Australia!) empowers neurodivergent young adults with practical, in-demand skills in mobile phone repair, retail operations, and customer service. My favorite part of the day was hearing from founder Annette Brodie about her personal journey and how they are working to overcome the challenges of running a high-impact social enterprise. It hasn't been easy… Running a social enterprise never is! But they have come so far since launching only 5 years ago. And the great news is that there is so much each of us can do to help! 🎁 Donate: Give our old, usable devices or make a financial contribution 🛒 Buy: Shop their refurbished devices on their online shop 🔧 Repair: Get your damaged devices fixed at their repair shop in Penshurst (Sydney) 🗣️ Spread the Word: Get your friends, family, and workplace onboard to do all of the above in order to support this amazing initiative! Visit their website for more: https://lnkd.in/dQgWRHNR #SocialEnterprise #TechForGood #DigitalInclusion #Sustainability #CircularEconomy

Preparing hospital garments disguised as fun costumes for sick children – for us it was disguised as team building but in reality was an incredible way to spend an afternoon. Supertee medical garments provide sick children with strength through imagination, designed with open underarms for thermometer access, press studs allowing for bypass tubes and lines and accessing vital areas, all whilst visually transforming into a super hero. We were fortunate to have Jason Sotiris the founder join and share his personal story and purpose. It was also encouranging to hear of the collaboration initiated by Marvel Studios supporting some of the designs. Thank you AMP Foundation for connecting us with Supertee, and thank you to all our team for diving in and completing all 200 garment boxes!
