Last week we had a stand at CVETMO, an agricultural research institute we collaborate with. 🥒 CVETMO has been using our 𝟮𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀 (diameter and sap flow) to study how 𝗰𝘂𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁s grow in different substrates (𝗰𝗼𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗲 fibre and 𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗹). The goal is to help growers who want to move toward 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 by understanding how plants actually react in each setup. A nice chance to see how our data compares across different substrates and growing conditions. This was a nice opportunity for us to bring our product to the local growers.

About us
By discovering how the plant really responds to all influences and following this real-time, opens up great potential for efficiency growth. We know practically everything from the surrounding area around the plant, but we have no idea how the plant really reacts to it. We want to change this with our products. If we can spread these insights across the industry and combine them with artificial intelligence and machine learning, we can have a positive impact on world level, placing 2Grow one step closer to the ultimate goal.

In a recent meeting, Guillaume Quentel from Serres Quentel shared how our plant sensors helped improve this season’s results: higher yields, more consistent fruits, better colour and growth, all with lower energy consumption. Using our sensors together with weekly reports gave him clearer insight into the behaviour of his plants, allowing to steer with more confidence. Optimising screen use and maintaining an active climate are two things in particular where he really felt a difference. For the 2Grow team, this was great to hear as it confirms that our sensors don’t just measure, but actively help growers steer their crops more efficiently in a confident, data-driven manner. 📈 A recent example from this growers data: In mid-July, after several cloudy days, the greenhouse saw three consecutive sunny days (>2800 J/cm²). Our sensors showed that the plants experienced multiple days of stem shrinkage, a clear sign that internal water reserves (turgor) were being depleted. While a drop in reserves is normal during a transition day, we ideally want to see the plant replenishing them afterwards. In this case, we advised increasing irrigation frequency during certain time windows on those sunny transition days. This small change can help the plant restore its reserves faster, keeping it in balance.

🌱 "Honestly, we’d lost interest in your solutions." (“J'ai eu l'occasion de vous faire part du manque d'intérêt qu'on avait eu sur vos solutions précédentes”) – Vincent Olivon, Co-owner & Director, Serres de Goulaine & Les Jardins Reunis When Vincent Olivon & Pauline Gautier of Les Jardins Reunis first tried 2Grow, they were skeptical. Past solutions had fallen short, and trust was hard to rebuild. But the results spoke for themselves: 📌 Nighttime recovery transformed: “Seeing our plants bounce back at night has been a game changer.” 📌 Precision in action: “We hit 142.5 cucumbers/m²—right in our target range—thanks to daily adjustments using reliable data.” 📌 Accurate predictions: “Nine times out of ten, the system’s predictions are spot-on, helping us plan and react with confidence.” 📌 Faster ROI than expected: “The improvements helped us recover our investment much sooner than anticipated.” Vincent’s story is one of many growers who’ve turned data into actionable insights, boosting plant health and confidence in their decisions. Smooth integration & standout support: “Graphs are quick to view, and Pieter’s team is always there with detailed, fast answers.” Vincent’s honest words reflect what many growers feel: doubt, followed by surprise when real results arrive. “We’re more confident in our choices. Our business is stronger.” Drowning in greenhouse data, but unsure what action to take? You're not alone. Most growers struggle to turn all those charts and numbers into clear, simple steps that actually boost results. This week, we installed sensors on linden trees in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Important road works are going on in the area, for which a lot of dewatering is needed. But this puts nearby trees under drought-stress. With our sensors, stress levels and tree health can be monitored in real-time, providing an early warning system that permits rapid action to protect these monuments that constitute a backbone for future-proof cities. At 2Grow, we offer a data-driven approach to seeing wood for the trees!

From Stress to Strength: Helping Plants Thrive in Extreme Heat Hot summer days can put an substantial strain on greenhouse crops like tomatoes, cucumbers, and bell peppers. The combination of high transpiration, intense afternoon stress, and difficult humidity build-up can lead to severe shrinkage and weakened plants. Here’s a snapshot of success during a recent case study: Day 1: Plants faced severe afternoon stress and insufficient recovery. This is shown by a net shrinkage in diameter over the whole day. Day 2: Strategic vent management improvements meant stress levels dropped slightly, but recovery was still insufficient. Day 3: By increasing irrigation levels and optimising vent closures, recovery improved, and for the first time, the plants achieved net growth over the whole day, despite even more extreme outside conditions. Thanks to advice based on real-time feedback we empowered the grower to make smarter, science-backed decisions to protect plant health, optimise growth, and ultimately improve yield potential. Is your greenhouse ready to take on the summer heat?
