Befimmo's project ZIN in No(o)rd in Brussels has been awarded Best Tall Building Worldwide 2025 by the Council on Vertical Urbanism (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH)). In addition to the top prize, ZIN also won in the categories Best Tall Building (100–199 m) and Best Tall Building Europe. We transformed a 1970s office tower into a sustainable vertical urban district – a European benchmark for adaptive reuse, multifunctionality, and carbon reduction in the built environment. 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐡.   When Befimmo set out to create one of the most iconic, top-standard buildings in Brussels North, it was clear that sustainability could not just be claimed — it had to be 𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. The building first required a 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐀𝐌 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 to validate its design and construction, followed by an 𝐈𝐧-𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to demonstrate sustainable performance in daily use.   Navigating these two BREEAM processes across more than 10 categories is never simple. With different criteria for design, construction, and operation — and multiple parties involved through each of these phases — there was the real need of an integrated approach.   To streamline the journey, Befimmo relied on 𝐁𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐨’𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦.
