A look back at a wonderful evening at Martin! ✨ We recently celebrated the final milestone for our project John Martin, a mixed-use residential project located at Park Spoor Noord in Antwerp. Developed by us in partnership with LIFE NV, Martin is transforming the former John Martin brewery into over 9,000 m² of sustainable spaces for living and working. Accessibility - A matter of humanity above all 💭 “For a brief moment, we stole the page from BPI Real Estate to tell you about a day that moved us deeply.” Last Friday, six of us - Morgane Stok, Zoé Van Begin, Nuria Gomez Frias, Dayana Mero, Frédéric Berleur and Jayson Paris (from BPC Group) - took part in a very special experience: a training day on accessibility and reduced mobility (PMR), organised by Bureau Atingo in collaboration with “Passe le message à ton voisin”, and led by Cédric and Nino. Nino’s story left no one untouched. 💙 Once an aeronautical pilot, his life changed after an accident that left him in a wheelchair. Today, he dedicates his energy and optimism to raising awareness about accessibility and about the invisible barriers that many face every day. Beyond theory, we lived the experience. We took a wheelchair around the office, tried to open a heavy parking door, reached the metro station and realised that what feels simple to most of us can be a real challenge for others. We even tried moving blindfolded, stepping, for just a few moments, into the shoes of those who navigate the world without sight. Troubling, humbling, and incredibly powerful. As developers, this day hit close to home. We design and build spaces where people live, move and connect. It’s at the very beginning of our projects that accessibility must take root because a single centimetre, a small step, or a poorly placed door can make a world of difference. 🫶 Accessibility shouldn’t be a constraint. It should be an instinct, part of how we build, think and care. As Nuria Gomez Frias beautifully said: “Ignorance is bliss. We don’t realise how important details are. The day was fascinating,  theoretically, technically and humanly. I believe we can do better easily, once we change our mindset.” And Frédéric Berleur summed it up perfectly: “I discovered that a simple threshold can be a summit: accessibility begins where empathy is born.” We left with one simple truth: real inclusion starts long before the first brick is laid, it begins with how we see, listen and care. 🧡 #accessibilitymatters #realestatewithpurpose #peoplefirst #buildforchange #heroesforgood
