Brussels Airport

Following reports of drone activity at several Belgian airfields yesterday evening, we have increased vigilance at Brussels Airport. In close collaboration with authorities, security services and our airport partners, we are taking this precaution alongside our existing safety and security measures. Last night, skeyes, responsible for managing Belgium’s air traffic, temporarily closed the airspace above Brussels Airport. As a result, several flights were cancelled or diverted to neighbouring airports. As some diverted aircraft could not return to Brussels Airport overnight, morning operations were challenging with further delays and cancellations.   Operations are returning to normal, but we continue to closely monitor the situation and maintain regular contact with all relevant government and security services. Safety remains our top priority, both for passengers and for the entire airport staff. We thank all airport employees and partners for their efforts in coordinating the response to this incident. We would also like to thank all our passengers for their understanding in these exceptional circumstances.  

This was the Brussels Airport Marathon 2025! Congrats to the over 20,000 runners including the record-breaking 813 #BrusselsAirport colleagues who joined us in the heart of our capital. Today we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the direct route by All Nippon Airways from #BrusselsAirport to Tokyo Narita. Since 2015, ANA has been part of our airport community, connecting people, communities and businesses in Europe and Asia. With over half a million passengers in the past decade, this route proves its value and their outstanding service. As a valued partner for both passenger and cargo operations, ANA is a strong foundation of our intercontinental network to Asia. Today at #BrusselsAirport, travellers weren’t just counting down to their destinations, they joined us in launching the official countdown to the Olympic Winter Games Milano-Cortina on 6 February 2026. Together with Belgisch Olympisch en Interfederaal Comité and Paralympic Team Belgium, we revealed a countdown clock in our departure hall, marking the start of a sports journey and celebrating our renewed partnership with Team Belgium and Paralympic Team Belgium. 🇧🇪 “Brussels Airport is more than an airport, we are the starting point of this Olympic adventure. Kilimanjaro is the newest addition joining the long-haul network of our home carrier, Brussels Airlines, here at #BrusselsAirport! Starting June 3, 2026, Brussels Airlines will fly to Kilimanjaro twice a week expanding their network to 18 destinations in sub-Saharan Africa, including five in East Africa. This addition strengthens our position as the gateway to Africa and confirms Brussels Airlines' expertise in connecting Europe to Africa. With the arrival of autumn, the aviation sector is already preparing for the winter season with an adapted offer. At #BrusselsAirport, we will connect passengers to 135 direct destinations including two new routes: TUI to Sälen in Sweden and Hainan Airlines to Chongqing in China.
