About us
For more than 40 years Data News has been the reference in Belgian ICT reporting. The magazine takes a look at the main local and international ICT news events, focusing particulary on e-business, telecoms and technology. More than 100.000 Belgian ICT professionals consider Data News to be THE source of information for the decisions that they make in a professional capacity. The print version has a circulation of about 25.000 copies (2/3 Dutch language, 1/3 French language), with a reader coefficient of 2,5. Our magazine is published by Roularta Media Group, the country’s foremost provider of B2B and specialist information. Data News offers a full range of information channels, with a website (with on average more than 250.000 unique visitors per month), a daily newsletter (sent to 100.000 readers), RSS feeds, a LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter presence, as well as a range of annual ‘guides’ (in print). In addition to a general look at the ICT news, Data News also has core articles and interesting features on strategy, corporate issues, internet related topics, practical applications, telecoms and networks. It takes a look at job offers in the ICT sector and, again on a weekly basis, gives you useful career advice . Data News is also the proud organizer of the prestigious Data News Awards event and the ICT Manager contest.

Sometimes I get the impression that more analysis and research is being done on AI than AI is actually being used. An undoubtedly false impression, but it is a fact that research reports arrive in our inboxes every day. Occasionally meaningless, often with a certain commercial touch to it, but fortunately sometimes also relevant. This week, I even see a trend in those reports, something that confirms my gut feeling and the feedback we are receiving from organisations in our Belgian ICT-community. Here is a look at ‘the AI potential paradox' I've been covering this week for Data News. 1️⃣ There’s a critical disconnect in how organizations are handling AI. On one hand, generative AI is delivering tangible efficiencies, with Belgian employees reporting average time savings of 108 minutes per workday. 2️⃣ The problem? This recovered time is often 'evaporating' rather than being reinvested, showing no clear link to productivity gains. 3️⃣ This lack of impact seems rooted in two issues; 👉 A strategic deficit: Only a quarter of Belgian organizations have actually embedded AI strategically into their business operations. 👉 A leadership gap: There is a strong misalignment between perception and reality. While managers increasingly fancy themselves 'AI leaders', their staff often does not follow or perceive this leadership, indicating that vision is not translating to the workfloor. The common thread is clear to me: Belgian organizations are adopting AI tools, but they are failing to integrate AI strategically. Without a clear strategy and aligned leadership to channel these new efficiencies, the significant potential of AI risks being wasted.
