About us

We have been brewing for four generations now, since 1871. Since the very beginning our family is devilishly possessed by the quality of every drop, every barrel and every bottle of over 2 million hectoliters of specialty beer that we produce annually. As a family company, we feel deeply connected to both past and future, and to business and society. We embrace both ambition and tradition. As we look forward, we also look out for each other; big ambitions begin with strong bonds. We see ‘all’ in challenge, and ‘more’ in tomorrow. From Kansas City to Puurs, and from Amsterdam to Tianjin or from colleagues to consumers and from partners to suppliers, people are the fuel for progress.

  • Look at what our fantastic colleagues at Firestone Walker just announced! With the launch of a brand-new CO₂ recovery system at their Paso Robles facility, they are capturing approximately 4 million pounds of CO₂ every year that would otherwise have been released, and instead putting it to use in tank purging, beer carbonating and packaging. This initiative links directly with the Duvel Moortgat Group’s sustainability ambitions. By turning a by-product of fermentation into a resource, we are reducing emissions, optimising resource use and advancing our collective journey towards carbon neutrality!

Last week we unveiled our new state-of-the-art CO2 recovery system, a major step forward in our Brewing for Tomorrow journey. This system captures and reuses the natural CO2 from fermentation, preventing four million pounds of emissions from entering the atmosphere every year. Big innovation. Real impact. Same Firestone Walker commitment to brewing responsibly. Learn more about the system: https://lnkd.in/gyF2A958

Normally, Duvel red or Chouffe yellow are our favorite colors, but for Pink Ribbon Belgium, we made an exception!   In October, our colleagues across Duvel Moortgat’s breweries and offices joined forces to add a touch of pink and raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer.   From pink shirts to matching accessories, our teams showed their support for everyone affected by breast cancer, resulting in these heartwarming pictures. Cheers to our wonderful colleagues who joined in and helped share the message!

  • Supporting passion and purpose! Through Vocatio, €10,000 grants are awarded annually to young people driven by a strong calling in fields ranging from science and art to social impact. This mission perfectly reflects our core values at Duvel Moortgat: passion, entrepreneurship, and social engagement. We therefore support a laureate each year whose project is especially close to our hearts. For 2025, our laureate is Simon Overdeput, founder of RENO Voetbal, a social-sportive project that brings people with and without a migration background together through football. What began in a Fedasil centre in Ghent has grown into a warm, diverse community where everyone is welcome on and off the court. Learn more about his inspiring project here: https://lnkd.in/eFm727eF Are you a young changemaker with a dream project? Brewing great beer goes hand in hand with caring for people and the planet.   That’s why we’ve set ourselves a bold ambition: reducing our Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 (compared to our 2022 baseline). A key milestone on this journey is the recent commissioning of CO₂ capture installations in our three largest breweries in Belgium, California and the Czech Republic. By recovering and reusing CO₂, our Scope 1 emissions are reduced by 15% (compared to 2022). This makes a direct contribution to our target and accelerates our efforts under the pillar 'reducing our carbon footprint'.   And we’re not stopping here. From renewable energy and regenerative agriculture to lighter packaging and sustainable logistics: every step brings us closer to a more sustainable future for beer. 📖 Want to read more about how and why we are reducing our carbon footprint? https://lnkd.in/e_PSbfba     (Scopes, emissions, percentages… if it all sounds like rocket science, just remember this: at Duvel Moortgat, we’re doing everything we can to make sure your favorite beers keep flowing for many years to come.)

  • At Duvel Moortgat, we believe the future of brewing depends on how we work with the land today.   That is why we are committed to supporting regenerative barley, grown using farming practices that restore soil health, strengthen biodiversity, and secure resilient harvests for generations to come.   Together with Carlsberg Group and Brussels Beer Project, our Sustainability Director Peter Willaert recently joined Soil Capital to discuss how the brewing sector can support farmers in this transition. While each brewery has a different scale and approach, one thing is clear: regeneration is about more than sustainability. It is about creating a supply chain that works for farmers, brewers, and consumers alike.   The real heroes? Those are the farmers who are already leading the way. Their willingness to innovate is what makes lasting change possible.   Read the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/g8GQcbWp Simon Boas Hoffmeyer Olivier de Brauwere

  • With the 4th generation on board, we think in decades, not quarters. That long-term view comes with a deep commitment to the people, raw materials, and planet we rely on, because we want to keep serving you the best beers for a really long time. Since 1871, we’ve grown from a local Belgian brewery into an international family of craft brewers. That growth comes with responsibility and we’re proud to share some of our 2024 global highlights: 🔻 -13% absolute fresh water use vs. 2022 ✅ Advanced CO₂ recovery systems now in place in California, Puurs, and Bernard 👷 Strengthened focus on safety and talent development globally 🔻 -8% Scope 1 & 2 emissions vs. 2022 🔺 +20% sales of low-/no-alcohol beers vs. 2023 We believe sustainability is not just about doing good, it’s also smart business. And while there’s more work ahead, we’re committed to raising the bar year after year. If you prefer enjoying one of our beers on a sunny terrace instead of reading the full document, we feel you — and we’ve got you covered!
