A professional community to enhance the quality of neurosurgical patient care through training, education and research
About us
EANS: A professional community to enhance the quality of neurosurgical patient care through training, education and research. The European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) is a fast-growing, independent association, both of European neurosurgical societies and of individual neurosurgeons all over the world. Our aim is to enable our members to enhance the care they deliver to their patients by facilitating the exchange of scientific information at the highest level. In pursuit of this goal, we arrange a wide range of meetings, symposia and educational courses, including the European Congress of Neurosurgery and the highly regarded European Training Courses in Neurosurgery. We recognise the huge part that e-learning now plays in the advancement of scientific knowledge, and are delighted to be able to provide a comprehensive online library of neurosurgical material via the EANS Academy. But we know too, that there is no substitute for “being there”, and therefore offer a growing number of fellowship and observership programmes, both on our own account and in collaboration with selected partners. You are invited to join a thriving neurosurgical community of over 2,500 members - a community that is growing daily! https://www.eans.org/page/Membership *Please note that posts on this page or by this page do not constitute endorsement of a product / technology by the EANS*

The European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) Meeting 2025 in Vienna felt unique and special! Reflecting on this event made it clear what it really means to evolve from being an industry partner for over 27 years to becoming a true ally in advancing neurosurgery together. This journey began with Professor Johannes Schramm. I still vividly remember the day he introduced me to EANS in 1998, in his office at the University Clinic Bonn, Germany, along with bernhard meyer and karl schaller. Since then, our relationship with European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) has grown and flourished far beyond a traditional industry–customer connection. Together, we’ve always believed in listening, learning, innovating, and challenging the status quo. By pushing technological boundaries, we’ve not only supported better patient care, we’ve also built meaningful friendships along the way. Becoming a trusted partner, united by shared goals, created an incredible energy at the Brainlab booth this year, which inspired our entire team. And it reminded us that, despite all the technological progress, it’s ultimately the people who make the real difference. I’m deeply grateful to be part of this incredible journey, together with valued customers, wonderful colleagues and dear friends. Even after all these years, it still feels fresh, it still feels exciting, it still feels full of purpose and the best is still to come. Congratulations to the entire European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) team for creating such an inspiring and productive atmosphere in Vienna! I am looking very much forward to #EANS2026 in Hamburg. #togetherwe #EANS2025 #digitalsurgery #roboticsuite #spinesurgery #neurosurgery Torstein R. 👋 Goodbye, Vienna! 🇦🇹✨ What an incredible #EANS2025 — from the early-morning #CSF pre-session (yes, people did show up before coffee ☕️) to two lively parallel sessions, a joint CSF–Pediatrics meeting, and a hands-on CSF Disorders Masterclass. 🧠💪 So proud to be part of both the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) CSF Section and our amazing Universitätsklinikum Freiburg CSF Team, led by Prof. Jürgen Beck, who received the EANS Lecturer Award! 🏆👏 Working under his guidance — always three steps ahead, a brilliant neuroscientist, and a transformative leader — continues to be both inspiring and humbling. As the neurologist among neurosurgeons, I’m deeply grateful to work in an environment where disciplines truly blend — where thinking ahead and collaborating across boundaries is the norm, not the exception. That’s exactly how innovation happens. 💡🤝 #Vienna, you’ve been beautiful & brainy, Until next time in #Hamburg! 🎻🥨 #EANS2025 #Neurosurgery #Neurology #CSFDisorders #Hydrocephalus #Neuroscience #InterdisciplinaryCare #Innovation #Leadership #FreiburgCSFTeam #ConferenceVibes #ProudMoment #SIH #IIH #NPH
