Exploring how EU research improves our lives at the #RiDaysEU! Over Day1, I've been visiting the exhibition space and attending a range of inspiring events. Here are some of the projects with my European Research Executive Agency (REA) “Future society” team and fellow Head of Department Paul Webb: ● With the MuseIT Project (Horizon Europe), I experienced innovative and inclusive ways to co-create music. ● I learnt how the widerAdvance Facility supports projects in #Widening countries to turn scientific results into sustainable products and solutions for the public (hurry up, they are currently receiving application until 31st October!) - AND I had the honour to meet Andrew Liebhold, a renowned American epidemiologist who joined the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague within an ERA Chairs project. ● Celebrating 10 years of EU migration research and innovation with #REFUGE-ED, #QUANTMIG, @IMMERSE_H2020 projects. What an amazing first day at the European Research & Innovation Days in Brussels! We are really honoured to be here sharing results from the MuseIT Project (Horizon Europe) at this big event gathering around 3000 persons. Together with my colleagues from X-System Ltd we are showcasing technology from the remote performance platform for co-creating music online, developed in the project. Lots of great conversations, curiousity and also laughter and enjoyment when people listened to their own brain and asked their colleagues: would you like to listen to the sound of my brain?! #RiDaysEU #HorizonEU

MuseIT Project (Horizon Europe) is approaching its conclusion, marked by a two-day event in Borås and Gothenburg, where the results and innovations from nearly three years of work were showcased. A central part of the project has been to explore multimodality – that is, how different senses can interact to create richer and more accessible cultural experiences. Through multisensory representations of, for example, works of art or music, it becomes possible to experience culture not only with sight and hearing, but also through touch and other senses. MuseIT has also contributed to new ways of preserving and communicating cultural heritage in inclusive formats. ShareMusic's role in the MuseIT project has focused on the aspect of cultural co-creation. We have worked on developing a Remote Performance Platform that enables musical co-creation at a distance. However, we have also been involved in other parts of the project, not least in creating an accessible repository for cultural assets. Professor Nigel Osborne, chair of ShareMusic's Advisory Board and a key figure in the project, describes it this way: "Through MuseIT, we have been able to explore how new technology not only makes remote music creation possible, but also how cultural heritage can be passed on in new and more inclusive ways." During the final event, participants had the opportunity to attend lectures, interactive demonstrations and musical performances where the project's technologies were used in practice. Visitors were able to try out multisensory installations, see how digital tools can be linked to music creation and experience concrete examples of how technology can provide new opportunities for interaction with culture. The event brought together researchers, artists, practitioners and the general public, and showed how MuseIT's work can inspire future initiatives in culture, participation and accessibility. Over the past three years, MuseIT Project (Horizon Europe) has developed innovative tools and methods to make culture more accessible and engaging for everyone. Right now, the project's final two-day event – Beyond Boundaries – Multisensory Innovations for Inclusive Futures – is underway! 💡 Presentations of the project's results 💡 During the first day of the symposium, the project's various creative multisensory works were showcased – tools that weave together technology, culture, and inclusion, to reshape the cultural experiences of the future. Some of the innovative works on display were MuseIT Web-UI, Haptic sensations, HaptiVerse and Weaving Memory: Historical Garments, Immersive Futures – an installation prepared in collaboration with the Textile Museum of Sweden, MuseIt project, and the Tactile Stories Network. The MuseIT consortium comprises a large number of international parties and is coordinated by the University of Borås. The project is co-funded by the European Union.
