The clock is ticking!

Belgium lagging behind in its climate transition: it needs to go twice as fast. The new Climate Transition Barometer from the Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment sends a strong signal: 👉 Belgium is making progress — but far too slowly to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. Since 1990, greenhouse gas emissions have fallen by 31%, even though energy consumption has increased by 15%. Real progress, yes — but not enough. ⚠️ The findings are clear: no sector is currently on a trajectory consistent with carbon neutrality. 🔴 Three sectors are evolving too slowly: Industry Energy transformation (electricity & refining) Buildings ⬇️ Two sectors are moving in the wrong direction: Land use, weakened by artificialisation and declining forest carbon sinks International transport (air & maritime) ⚙️ Two sectors show unclear trends: Domestic transport, still dominated by cars and slow electrification Agriculture, where emissions have stagnated for a decade 📊 Main emitters: Industry (28%) | Transport (25%) | Buildings (18%) | Energy (16%) | Agriculture (11%) Given the importance of the building sector, Pulse is diving deeper with the Low-Carbon Investor Barometer in collaboration with Expertisenews.be and Belgian Green Building Council, mapping how real estate investors are tackling decarbonisation. 📅 Results revealed on 2 December at Wood Hub, Brussels. ✉️Want to join us?
