📽️ Yesterday, we joined partners to spotlight the powerful documentary "After the Rain: Putin’s Stolen Children Come Home", a moving account of resilience and justice. Ukrainian children are being forced into a system that rewrites history, glorifies violence, and tries to strip away their identity. It’s Russia’s despicable attempt to erase Ukraine’s future. To date, at least 19,500 children have been taken from their homes in Ukraine. Thank you to director Sarah McCarthy, Mission of Ukraine to the European Union, the Permanent Representation of Estonia to the EU and the panel for shining a light on this critical issue. The discussion brought together voices from the diplomatic and film community to shed light on the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children and the efforts to reunite them with their families. A huge thank you to our panel: 🟦Vsevolod Chentsov, Ukrainian Ambassador to the EU 🟦Lindsay Croisdale-Appleby, UK Ambassador to the EU 🟦Lauri Kuusing, Estonia’s Ambassador to the PSC 🟦Director Sarah McCarthy – thank you for bringing this important story to life 🟦Executive Producer Maria Logan 🟦Danielle Turkov Wilson, Founder Think Impact Films (panel moderator) We are proud to stand with our partners in defending Ukraine and protecting Europe. As Allies and as European friends, we must stand together to call out this atrocity, reunite Ukrainian families, and secure their future as part of Europe.

  • On July 2, we had the pleasure to attend a charity concert "EU Lawyers for Ukraine II" in support of medical and children's initiatives in Ukraine. 💬 Ambassador Vsevolod Chentsov addressed the audience, emphasizing how events like these transform hope into direct action that saves lives in Ukraine: “We are fighting this war together, and it is bigger than just holding Russia on the frontline, it is about dignity, it is about this feeling of togetherness and Ukrainian people feel it here in the EU towns and villages. It's about Ukrainian culture life. It's part of global challenges. It's part of the war. It's about keeping Ukraine high in the news agenda and the global agenda.” Dmytro Udovychenko, winner of the 2024 Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition and true pride of Ukraine, delivered a breathtaking performance with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of David Navarro-Turres. Playing the Stradivarius "Huggins" (1708), Dmytro brought the beauty of Ukrainian spirit to life. Every contribution made through this charity concert directly supports three vital projects: 🔵 Emergency psychological support for children affected by war through Dobrodiy Club 🔵 Medical equipment for 300+ paramedics with Hospitallers volunteer paramedic organization in Ukraine 🔵 Rehabilitation equipment for Medical Rehabilitation Center in Dnipro region As the Co-President of Ensemble Ukraine Anastasia Usova highlighted: “Freedom is not free. Ukrainian people pay an immense price for it every day.” The concert was organized by the Ensemble Ukraine - Anastasia Usova (Co-President at Ensemble Ukraine & Partner at Redcliffe Partners), Catriona Hatton (Partner at Baker Botts), and Aleksandra Boutin (Managing Director at BRG), who brought together 29 leading law firms and economic consultancies as sponsors. We extend our sincere gratitude to all those who stand in solidarity with Ukraine. Your support makes a difference!

Brussels premiere of THE EUKRAINIAN by Swedish filmmaker Viktor Nordenskiöld - a powerful documentary film about Ukraine’s path to EU membership. Just days after Russia’s full-scale invasion, Ukraine applied for EU membership. The film follows Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefahishyna as she works to secure Ukraine's place in the EU, while her country fights for survival. At the screening at Brussels International Film Festival, Sweden’s Minister for EU Affairs Jessica Rosencrantz, EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib, film director Viktor Nordenskiöld and Deputy Head of the Mission of Ukraine to the EU Oksana Diakun took part as speakers before the film and in a Q&A after. Support to Ukraine is a top priority for Sweden. Minister Rosencrantz emphasized that according to the EU Commission, Ukraine has fulfilled the requirements for taking the next steps in the process towards membership and that this should happen as soon as possible. She stated that supporting Ukraine in the accession process is not just a moral duty for the EU and important for Ukraine, it is also central to building a stronger and more secure EU. The film will now be shown on TV and film festivals in different European countries. For those based in Sweden, it can be viewed on SVT Play.
