Ce matin, j’ai eu le plaisir d’échanger avec Annemie Schaus, rectrice de l’Université libre de Bruxelles au sujet des spin-offs de l’université. 🔬 Une spin-off, c’est une entreprise issue des connaissances et technologies développées dans le cadre de la recherche académique. L’ULB en compte aujourd’hui 32 en activité, autant de passerelles entre la recherche, l’innovation et la société. L’objectif premier reste la production et la transmission du savoir. Mais lorsque la recherche ouvre la voie à une application concrète, un projet entrepreneurial peut voir le jour. Dans la majorité des cas, ce sont des chercheurs qui deviennent entrepreneurs, transformant leurs découvertes en solutions innovantes. 🇧🇪 La Belgique est reconnue pour la qualité de la formation de ses chercheurs. Les spin-offs constituent un levier essentiel pour valoriser cette expertise, retenir les talents et renforcer les liens entre monde académique et tissu économique. 🎓 L’ULB soutient également l’entrepreneuriat étudiant grâce au statut EBS (étudiants à besoins spécifiques), qui permet d’adapter les horaires de cours et d’examens aux contraintes d’un projet entrepreneurial. 🏗️ Enfin, le BioPark Charleroi illustre cet engagement. Fondé par l’ULB, il réunit un écosystème unique de compétences scientifiques, cliniques et entrepreneuriales, un environnement propice à la recherche et au développement de nouveaux médicaments. ➖ Vanmorgen had ik het genoegen om met Annemie Schauss, rector van ULB gedachten te wisselen over de spin-offs van de universiteit. 🔬 Een spin-off is een onderneming die ontstaat uit de kennis en technologieën die binnen het academisch onderzoek zijn ontwikkeld. De ULB telt vandaag 32 actieve spin-offs, die bruggen slaan tussen onderzoek, innovatie en de samenleving. Het eerste doel blijft de creatie en overdracht van kennis. Maar wanneer onderzoek de weg opent naar een concrete toepassing, kan daaruit een ondernemend project ontstaan. In de meeste gevallen zijn het onderzoekers die ondernemers worden, en hun ontdekkingen omzetten in innovatieve oplossingen. 🇧🇪 België staat bekend om de kwaliteit van de opleiding van zijn onderzoekers. Spin-offs vormen een belangrijk middel om deze expertise te valoriseren, talent te behouden en de banden tussen de academische wereld en het economische weefsel te versterken. 🎓 De ULB ondersteunt ook het studentenondernemerschap via de EBS-status (étudiants à besoins spécifiques), die studenten in staat stelt hun les- en examenroosters aan te passen aan de vereisten van een ondernemingsproject. 🏗️ Het BioPark Charleroi illustreert dit engagement. Opgericht door de ULB, brengt het een uniek ecosysteem samen van wetenschappelijke, klinische en ondernemerschapscompetenties — een omgeving die gunstig is voor onderzoek en de ontwikkeling van nieuwe geneesmiddelen.
