These numbers say it all 🤖 AI is changing how EU funding proposals are written, and the increase in submissions for Horizon Europe Cluster 2 (+49%) and EIC Pathfinder (+88%) proves it. At ERIS at VUB TechTransfer, we’re seeing this trend up close: more proposals than ever, but also a clear shift in what really matters. Many proposals look perfect on paper… yet miss the mark on authentic impact and real collaboration. That’s exactly where ERIS adds value 🚀 We guide Vrije Universiteit Brussel researchers in developing strong impact sections and provide hands-on support with administration and budgeting. Our goal: to free up your time so you can focus on the scientific excellence and originality of your proposal. ✨ Because in today’s landscape, it’s not about style or structure anymore. It’s about substance, strategy and purpose. 💡 #HorizonEurope #EICPathfinder #ResearchImpact #Innovation #GrantWriting #EUfunding #AI
The EU funding landscape is changing, and the numbers speak for themselves. This year, there is an impressive surge in grant applications for both Horizon Europe and the LIFE Programme in 2025. Here's a quick look at the data: MSCA proposals: 17,058 in 2025, up 65% from 2024. HE Cluster 2 proposals: 1,095 in 2025, a jump of 49%. EIC Pathfinder proposals: 2,087 in 2025, representing a massive 88% growth. LIFE proposals: 1,095 in 2025, a 22% increase. What's driving this trend? We believe there are several key factors at play, with two standing out as the most likely: 1️⃣ The rise of AI Tools powered by AI are making the grant writing process faster and more efficient, dramatically lowering the barrier to entry and allowing more researchers and organizations to apply. 2️⃣ Reduced national calls We've observed a decrease in national calls for proposals in some EU countries, pushing researchers to seek opportunities at the EU level. The data for MSCA fellowships supports this. While global applications (including from the US) increased by 17%, European applications soared by 70%. This suggests that the growth is a powerful internal European trend, driven more by new efficiencies and national funding shifts than by external political factors. This trend underscores the growing importance of European funding as a cornerstone of research, innovation, and environmental action. It's a clear signal that the EU is becoming an even more attractive destination for scientific and technological ambition. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments! #HorizonEurope #LIFEProgramme #EIC #MSCA #ResearchFunding #GrantWriting #AI #Innovation #ClimateAction
