📢 Interagency Collective Accountability to Affected People (AAP) e-learning training modules. The modules are now accessible to all at E-Campus: https://lnkd.in/ez_y-2sc Enrolment key: IACAAP-IOM-2025 The development of these e-learning modules was led by IOM in close collaboration with an interagency steering committee comprised of OCHA, WFP, UNICEF, UNFPA, UNHCR, CHS Alliance, CDAC Network, IFRC and Mercy Corps (and some NORCAP staff in various roles!). The modules were developed to support a broad range of humanitarian actors, including in-country leadership (HCTs and others), senior emergency coordinators, technical staff, AAP focal points, programme managers and field staff in strengthening and enhancing collective accountability practices across humanitarian operations.   It will also be of particular interested to the colleagues who work closely with in gender, protection, PSEA, GBV etc.   The e-learning comprises of six modules, including five thematic modules and a module featuring case studies drawn from field-tested experiences. New Frontiers for Social Policy: How does your country compare ? 📈 On 13-14 February 2025, Ministers of OECD Member countries, the European Union and interested participating non-Members came together at OECD under the broad theme “New Frontiers for Social Policy: Investing in the Future”. The discussions highlighted several key priorities: - strengthening the preventive role of social protection systems, ensuring their adaptability to demographic changes; - improving digital service delivery while maintaining accessibility and privacy with a human-centred and rights-oriented technology; - securing sustainable financing mechanisms; - and enhancing child well-being and social mobility. They specifically highlighted the importance of addressing gender-based inequalities in social protection systems and ensuring that reforms contribute to greater gender equality and a more inclusive societies in our countries. A month ago, we published the 2025 Ranking Digital Rights Index: Big Tech Edition, our assessment of the human rights policies and practices of 14 digital platforms around the world (encompassing 43 individual services).   While the data is still simmering in our minds, here are some takeaways that have caught my attention: Platforms from the U.S. maintain the lead over Chinese, South Korean, and Russian counterparts... but there's not much to brag about. Moving slow and not fixing things is the name of their game. Read more on US companies here: https://lnkd.in/diu4MTTG Chinese companies had the greatest improvement (although starting from quite a lower baseline) and there are some promising developments. It's the first time we see clear human rights commitments from Alibaba and Tencent (!). They are also showing positive progress on corporate governance, like management and oversight mechanisms. As well as the implementation of human rights impact assessments to identify how government regulations and policies affect freedom of expression and privacy. While these private platforms have comparable transparency on policies and practices concerning freedom of expression and privacy, there are serious concerns about governance shortcomings. Private companies lack transparency on oversight mechanisms, the governance of decision-making on content moderation, and digital security. Most companies are not disclosing whether users can control how their information is used to develop algorithms. Human rights impact assessments of the development and use of algorithmic systems are still few are far between. #NENA region faces a pressing need for effective fire management solutions. An urgent demand for coordinated efforts is needed. FAO The Near East Network on Wildlands Forest Fire (NENFIRE), in partnership with #SilvaMediterranea and the National Agency of Water and Forestry of Morocco, is hosting a workshop to strengthen regional collaboration on fire prevention, response, and post-fire restoration. The workshop will aim to provide participants with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to enhance integrated fire management and ecosystem resilience across the Near East and Mediterranean countries.
