Accor announced the signing of a development agreement to open a new Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Petten, a popular beach destination with vast sand dunes and stunning coastal scenery. Expected to open in 2028, The property is set to be the first resort under the Mövenpick brand in the Netherlands and will be known as Mövenpick Resort & Spa Pettemer Duynen. Mövenpick Resort & Spa Pettemer Duynen will boast 240 elegant hotel rooms all tied together by the distinctive foundation of the Mövenpick brand. Guests will enjoy access to a spa and wellness centre, expertly designed swimming pools, meeting facilities for up to 500 guests and restaurants that celebrate the outstanding culinary excellence synonymous with Mövenpick. Next to the hotel, on a site of 50,000 m2, Landal, the largest holiday park rental in the Netherlands, will operate 13 apartments and 150 standalone villas, making Petten a must-visit destination for those from the Netherlands and further afield. This latest addition builds on a growing portfolio of 58 Accor properties in the Netherlands across 14 recognised brands, including two additional Mövenpick hotels in Den Haag and Amsterdam. Sustainability is central to the daily operations of all our properties at The First Group Hospitality. It is reflected in a range of initiatives, from repurposing resources to decreasing energy use to strengthening local communities. Our hotel teams continually develop ideas to make a positive environmental and societal impact, often with standout creativity. We asked four General Managers to share a personal view on how sustainability matters to them as hoteliers. Arlette Richter-Picardo, General Manager of Hotel Local at Jumeirah Village Triangle, partnered with Hatta Honey to set up beehives, enabling the hotel’s restaurants to serve honey that is as natural and local as it gets. Libu Daniel, Cluster General Manager for Citadines Metro Central and Grand Heights Hotel, oversees a system that repurposes condensation water from rooftop fresh air handling units and fan coil units to irrigate indoor and outdoor plants, as well as a vegetable garden. Onur Avkan, Cluster General Manager for The First Collection at Jumeirah Village Circle, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel and Hotel Avalon, is keen on promoting an active lifestyle through an “Explore the Neighborhood” initiative that includes a running map designed for guests.
