𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗯 Various green façade systems are being installed near the entrance on the west side of the TU Delft | Civil Engineering and Geosciences building. Greenery has the potential to play an important role in making our cities and buildings more future proof by providing cooling and insulation. Equipped with hundreds of sensors, the green façade systems will be tested to provide scientifically grounded insights into their performance and impact. The outcome will be a collection of valuable data, which will be used by the researchers to determine how green facades contribute to a building’s energy balance, the cooling of the environment, and other eco-services. These results will be published in a catalogue for various types of buildings - primarily existing ones. Kicking off the academic year with exciting news: we’ve won the tender for the redevelopment of Nijenborgh 4 at Zernike Campus Groningen! 📚 The Rijksuniversiteit Groningen has selected Benthem Crouwel Architects and Nieuwe Architecten to draw up a Masterplan for the Nijenborgh 4 building ensemble. This plan reorganises the buildings and their immediate surroundings into a future-proof, sustainable and attractive part of the Zernike campus, in line with the university’s growing demand for education and research facilities. Instead of demolition, the plan embraces the building’s reusability, adaptability and unique character: ▪️ The first phase focuses on transforming section 5113 into an interfaculty Learning Centre, featuring open, shared spaces such as study landscapes, computer labs, flexible Active Learning Centres, and even a bicycle basement. ▪️ In later phases, sections 5114 to 5116 will be redeveloped step by step into state-of-the-art facilities for innovative research — transforming Nijenborgh 4 into a vibrant hub of science. As The Antibox puts it, “An architecture of novelty often forgets the quiet dignity of clarity.” At HB, we believe in thoughtful design: + Simple geometries that offer flexibility + Contextual forms that respond, not shout + Architecture that prioritises longevity over novelty + Spaces that endure, built for people, not just publication In an age where the spectacular often overshadows the sincere, we choose an architecture of intention.
