🤖 Another big step towards safe and trustworthy AI in Europe!   From today, the AI Act obligations on general-purpose AI (GPAI) models and governance start to apply, bringing more transparency, safety and accountability across the EU.   GPAI models can perform a wide range of tasks and are becoming the basis for many AI systems in the EU. But some of them could carry systemic risks if they are very capable or widely used.   From 2 August 2025, providers placing GPAI models on the EU market must comply with transparency, safety and copyright obligations.   From that date onwards, the AI Act’s governance also has to be in place. Today’s preliminary findings sent to Temu found the platform in breach of the Digital Services Act. Based on our analysis, evidence showed that there is still high risk for consumers in the EU to encounter illegal products on the platform. It indicated that consumers shopping on Temu are very likely to find non-compliant products among the offer, such as baby toys and small electronics.
