  • 🔎 The delegated act under the Digital Services Act (DSA) published today enables qualified researchers to request internal data from very large online platforms and search engines.   Why is it important?   Researchers, for example in children’s mental health, illegal content or disinformation, will be able to better study the systemic risks of online services, including social media, online marketplaces, adult sites, and web browsers.   The delegated act complements the obligation already in force under the DSA on access to public data and provides vetted researchers with a unique new tool to play a key part in examining and safeguarding the online world.   Together, they will help to make the online platforms and search engines safer, fairer and more transparent for everyone. • 📃 New rules harmonising the format, content, and reporting periods for transparency reports now apply under the Digital Services Act.   The DSA transparency reports are crucial to facilitate transparency and public accountability of digital services in the EU.   Every year, providers of intermediary services must report on the number of pieces of content removed, the accuracy of automated content moderation systems, account terminations, and content moderation teams.   Having these reports harmonised means reducing inconsistencies between reports which hinder assessment and comparison of moderation practices.   Read more about the Implementing Act → https://europa.eu/!8YRwQw   #DigitalServicesAct #DSA #DigitalEU

  • 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀. Since its adoption in 2017, the "Roam like at Home" (RLAH) regime has revolutionised mobile connectivity in the European Union by enabling users to call, text, and use data without extra cost while traveling within the EU. As required by the Roaming Regulation, a report assessing the roaming market's performance has now been submitted. Key Findings: 🔹 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒎𝒆𝒓 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒇𝒊𝒕𝒔: With an immense increase in mobile data usage since 2017, the RLAH regime has demonstrated its ongoing relevance and benefit for EU consumers. 🔹 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓 𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒂𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒚: Despite the rising demand, domestic pricing structures haven't been negatively impacted, demonstrating a balanced approach that benefits both consumers and service providers. 🔹 𝑬𝒙𝒑𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑯𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒛𝒐𝒏𝒔: The EU is actively working to extend the RLAH area to include new countries like Ukraine and Moldova. 🔹 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒅𝒂𝒑𝒕𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏: While machine-to-machine (M2M) and IoT connectivity continue to evolve, the competitive environment is robust, indicating no immediate need for regulatory changes. 🔹 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒐𝒏'𝒔 𝑶𝒏𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑹𝒐𝒍𝒆: The European Commission's latest report confirms the RLAH framework's effectiveness in enhancing competition and maintaining fair market dynamics.
