What an inspiring experience at the main auditorium of #IHTConference2025! The session “Advancing European Precision Medicine Through Ecosystem Interconnectivity” brought together leading innovators — Nuno Sousa (AICIB), Jordi Serrano Pons (P8Health), Júlio Oliveira (IPO-Porto), Luis Valente (iLoF) and myself (Health and Life Sciences Cluster Bulgaria - BioCluster.bg) — to discuss how cross-border collaboration accelerates solutions in personalised medicine. Our dialogue made one thing crystal clear: while Europe’s research and innovation capacity in health is world-class, public procurement remains a persistent barrier to the rapid adoption of precision medicine innovations. Too often, promising solutions fail to reach patients across borders due to fragmented and risk-averse procurement systems. But the way forward is equally clear. By championing pre-commercial procurement, value-based purchasing, and harmonised regulatory frameworks, we can transform procurement from a hurdle into a powerful lever for accessible, data-driven, and patient-centred healthcare. The InnoMedCatalyst project was proud to share regional models and actionable practices already making a difference in bridging the gap between groundbreaking R&I and real-world implementation. A heartfelt thank you to Health Cluster Portugal for bringing us together in #Porto, and to all our colleagues who are furthering the cause of a more connected, innovative European health ecosystem. The momentum is real — together, we’re shaping a future where policy and practice align for the benefit of every patient. #IHTConference25 #HealthPortugal #DigitalHealth #PrecisionMedicine #InnoMedCatalyst #HealthInnovation #LifeSciences #EUEcosystems #Collaboration #CEBR #HealthClusterBulgaria
