Mumtalakat and SandboxAQ, a global leader in artificial intelligence and quantum techniques, today announced that they have entered a strategic partnership to catalyse a cutting-edge biotech ecosystem in the Kingdom of Bahrain. In this partnership, Bahrain is licensing SandboxAQ’s software and expertise in quantitative AI to identify and develop targets and novel therapeutics. Mumtalakat is the sovereign wealth fund of Bahrain. Borne out of the economic diversification plan spearheaded by the Crown Prince, Mumtalakat was established in 2006 as a holding company to manage 29 commercial assets on behalf of the Government. In the years since, our assets have grown to over 60 local and international companies across 12 sectors. We invest in, and for, Bahrain, playing an important role in the national economy through our strategic assets while seeking commercially viable investment opportunities in growth sectors domestically and internationally.

The new identity ‘Umniah by Beyon’ was announced during an event held in Amman, attended by members of the royal family, ministers, diplomats, senior officials, and media. The event was hosted by Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat and Chairman of Beyon Group, and celebrated two decades of successful investment in Jordan.

As part of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s official visit to the Italian Republic and in the presence of HE Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Minister of Finance and National Economy and Chairman of Mumtalakat, a framework cooperation agreement was signed between Mumtalakat and Investindustrial for collaboration in the field of investment. The agreement was signed on the Bahraini side by HE. Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, CEO of Mumtalakat, and on the Italian side by Mr. Andrea Bonomi, Chairman of Investindustrial.
