The project seeks to explore the intersection of data regulation, algorithmic ethics, and the systemic reproduction of inequality through technology. The research will also include an exploration of AI applications in technological innovation and deep techs.
At LCFI, an interdisciplinary centre dedicated to exploring the nature, ethics, and impact of artificial intelligence, Bernardo will receive mentorship from Prof. Dr. Eleanor Drage. Prof. Drage is a Senior Research Fellow at LCFI, Co-Director of the AI: Narratives and Justice Programme, and was recognized as one of the Top 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics™ in 2022.
This placement shows the robust interdisciplinary research environment at the BCDSS, where Bernardo has deepened his investigations into the legacies of slavery, structural dependency, and their intersections with algorithmic discrimination and technological power.
