In #Peru, climate change isn’t a distant threat; it’s already rewriting daily life. In the communities of Huánuco and Loreto, families are already facing rising temperatures, unpredictable rains, and floods that endanger their livelihoods. Through a project led by Humanity & Inclusion (HI), women farmers, young people, and persons with disabilities, are learning to adapt and lead the change. Women are at the heart of this effort, sharing ancestral knowledge, protecting water sources, ensuring food security, and maintaining cohesion within groups. From reforestation to school gardens, these local, nature-based solutions are helping to preserve biodiversity, improve nutrition, and strengthen livelihoods. “Seeing women gain confidence, make decisions and feel in control of their own destiny reminds me that climate change cannot be combated through technical measures alone, but also through human connections," says Maria del Pilar Guardia J., project officer at HI. Hussein, at 10 years old, lost both legs after stepping on a landmine while fetching water for his family in Al Duraihimi District, Hudaydah Governorate, #Yemen, in 2022. Two years later, Humanity & Inclusion (HI) opened the Artificial Limbs Centre at Al-Thawra Hospital, giving Hussein the chance to regain mobility. Hussein received prosthetic limbs and began physical therapy to rebuild strength and mobility. HI also supported his family with transportation costs to ensure he could access care without financial strain. While challenges remain, Hussein now dreams of walking again, returning to school, and playing with his friends. “I just want to stand and walk again. I want to go back to school and play with my friends. I want to be like other children.” Thanks to rehabilitation services and the support of HI, Hussein is reclaiming his independence and hope for the future. Deux ans plus tard, Humanité & Inclusion (HI) a ouvert le Centre de prothèses de l’hôpital Al-Thawra, offrant à Hussein la possibilité de retrouver sa mobilité. Il a reçu des prothèses et a commencé une rééducation physique afin de renforcer sa force et sa mobilité. HI a également aidé sa famille à couvrir les frais de transport pour qu’il puisse bénéficier de soins sans contrainte financière. Bien que des défis subsistent, Hussein rêve désormais de remarcher, de retourner à l'école et de jouer avec ses amis. « Je souhaite simplement pouvoir me tenir debout et marcher à nouveau. Je souhaite retourner à l'école et jouer avec mes amis. During a question period before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development on October 28th, Secretary of State for International Development Randeep Sarai emphasized the vital contribution and effectiveness of women deminers in #Ukraine. “I have met with some of these demining corporations and NGOs; they have actually found that women who engage in this get more empowered and are actually much more effective at demining. So, if we are able to train and empower people into fields they otherwise are not, that is for the better. The men are at war, so there is actually a big lack in men to do a lot of these jobs. If we can get the women that are there to have those skills, and in this regard, I have met the organizations doing that work, they have said that factually the women have done a better job at demining. They are also much better when they come home; they are respected by their peers. In the Raqqa region of #Syria, Humanity & Inclusion (HI) divers and deminers carried out mine clearance in an aquatic environment along the Euphrates River.  Using a remotely operated underwater vehicle, the team searched for explosive devices such as 82mm mortars and improvised explosive devices manufactured by ISIS.  During the operation, the divers removed the explosive devices, while one team member acted as a link between the divers and the deminer responsible for transporting the explosives to safety. This demonstration showcased how HI teams work together to detect, recover, and safely remove explosive remnants of war, protecting lives, and promoting safety for local communities. --- Dans la région de Raqqa en #Syrie, les plongeurs et démineurs de Humanité & Inclusion (HI) ont procédé au déminage dans un environnement aquatique le long de l'Euphrate.   À l'aide d'un véhicule sous-marin télécommandé, l'équipe a recherché des engins explosifs tels que des mortiers de 82 mm et des engins explosifs improvisés fabriqués par Daech.   Au cours de l'opération, les plongeurs ont retiré les engins explosifs, tandis qu'un membre de l'équipe assurait la liaison entre les plongeurs et le démineur chargé de transporter les explosifs en lieu sûr.  Cette démonstration a permis de montrer comment les équipes de HI travaillent ensemble pour détecter, récupérer et retirer en toute sécurité les restes explosifs de guerre, protégeant ainsi des vies et favorisant la sécurité des communautés locales.

When 10-year-old Mohammed Sameer Musleh heard that the #Israeli armed forces were firing bullets and shells at people heading to receive aid in the Zikim area, north of #Gaza City, he rushed out in fear to look for his father, who was late returning from collecting aid. While searching, he was struck by a tank shell and had to undergo an above-knee amputation. Today, Mohammed is receiving rehabilitation support from Humanity & Inclusion (HI). With the help of prosthetics & orthotics specialist Heba Bashir, he is learning to walk again with his prosthetic limb. Children like Mohammed should not have to worry about surviving conflict, they deserve the chance to grow, learn, and play in safety. -- Lorsque Mohammed Sameer Musleh, âgé de 10 ans, a appris que les forces armées #israéliennes tiraient des balles et des obus sur des personnes qui se rendaient dans la région de Zikim, au nord de la ville de Gaza, pour recevoir de l'aide, il s'est précipité, inquiet, à la recherche de son père, qui tardait à revenir après être allé chercher de l'aide. Pendant ses recherches, il a été touché par un obus de char et a dû subir une amputation au-dessus du genou. Aujourd'hui, Mohammed bénéficie d'un soutien à la réadaptation de la part de Humanity & Inclusion (HI). Avec l'aide de Heba Bashir, spécialiste en prothèses et orthèses, il réapprend à marcher avec sa prothèse. Les enfants comme Mohammed ne devraient pas avoir à se soucier de survivre à un conflit, ils méritent de pouvoir grandir, apprendre et jouer en toute sécurité. 

Humanity & Inclusion (HI) Canada joins 41 NGOs operating in #Gaza in urging the Government of #Israel to honor its ceasefire commitments and allow humanitarian aid to flow freely. Since the ceasefire began, Israeli authorities have arbitrarily blocked shipments of life-saving assistance, while a new restrictive registration process further delays urgent work. Between October 10–21, 99 NGO aid requests and six UN requests were denied, including tents, blankets, food, hygiene kits, assistive devices, and children’s clothing. Moreover, nearly $50 million worth of essential goods remain stockpiled as winter approaches, leaving families in Gaza without insulation, heating, clean water, or sanitation.
