How do we keep students truly engaged and motivated to learn? Professor Euan Lindsay from Aalborg University shares practical insights on how the Problem-Based Learning framework helps students stay motivated by designing solutions to real-world problems, even in their first week with zero technical skills. 🎤 Watch the full conversation on Quanser Café to explore the full story: https://lnkd.in/gBR8YkgC #QuanserCafé #Quanser #AalborgUniversity #EngineeringEducation #StudentEngagement #ProblemBasedLearning #STEMEducation

What if your drone didn’t have a flight controller? The recent post from our Chief Robotics Officer, Paul Karam, sparked some great discussion, and that’s exactly the point. At Quanser, when we talk about open architecture, we’re not saying hardware doesn’t exist; we’re saying it doesn’t limit you. Researchers deserve full access, transparency, and the ability to modify every layer of the system. Because innovation happens when nothing is hidden behind a black box.
Chief Robotics Officer at Quanser | Driving Innovation in Engineering Education & Robotics | Empowering the Next Generation of Engineers
What if your drone didn’t have a flight controller? That’s the question that stops people in their tracks when we talk about open architecture. Because in an open system, nothing gets in your way. No black boxes. No barriers. Just full access to every low-level component. Open architecture isn’t just a design choice; it’s part of our DNA. It’s how researchers and educators truly explore, combine, and innovate without limits. When you remove the boundaries, you don’t just teach robotics. You unlock discovery. #TechTuesdaysWithPK #OpenArchitecture #RoboticsEducation #EngineeringInnovation #Research

At the University of Ottawa, Dr. Burak Kantarci's team used Quanser Interactive Labs to build AI-driven traffic monitoring that can describe real events in plain language. "Two cars collided near the roundabout; northbound lane slowing." Within QLabs' digital-twin environment, their models combined YOLOv11 for detection and LLaVA for interpretation, turning visual data into human-readable insights. In a second study, the team cut network load by 99.9% using a semantic-communication framework that sends only compact visual embeddings to the cloud, where an LLM reconstructs and reasons over them. This is how intelligent, connected systems will manage the roads of tomorrow; and it's happening today in QLabs. Join us on October 28th for a webinar on this topic, presented by Dr. Burak Kantarci: https://bit.ly/49gczBt #AIResearch #SmartMobility #AutonomousSystems #Quanser #QLabs #QCar2

Researchers in autonomous systems are under increasing pressure to publish faster and validate results in the real world. But setup delays, hardware integration, and debugging often slow progress where it matters most: experimentation. Quanser's QCar 2 and QDrone 2 platforms eliminate those barriers. Fully integrated, high-performance, and research-ready, they let teams move from concept to results with speed, safety, and precision. Read the full blog to see how turnkey platforms are accelerating autonomous systems research: https://bit.ly/4hkpJiU To explore how QCar 2 and QDrone 2 can advance your work, book a demo here: https://bit.ly/4hxZRQL

Design intuition comes from working with complete systems, not isolated components. The Mechatronics Design Lab provides that experience, enabling students to design, test, and build like real engineers. Over 20 sensors, 16 actuators, endless possibilities.
