I'm very thankful to the UBC Centre for Migration Studies' Climate Migration Research Group for having me as a presenter on November 28th at the UBC Liu Institute for Global Issues. I'm looking forward to discussing how international law (and domestic law) can enhance protections for climate-forced migrants, particularly through the lens of the right to a healthy environment.

While migrants arrive in the U.S. on temporary visas far more often than with green cards, migration research often overlooks these visa programs and the racial inequalities embedded within them. 📚 New Publication | 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴: 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘔𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 is a powerful example of what can emerge from a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Connection workshop, bringing together research, creativity, and collaboration! Co-created by Antje Ellermann, Frederik Byrn Køhlert, Sarah Leavitt, and Mireille Paquet, this graphic anthology blends research with visual storytelling to explore displacement, identity, and belonging. It shows how art can engage readers emotionally with the complex realities of migration, beyond data or debate.
