AidEx - The Global Humanitarian Aid Community

Two weeks ago, the Humanitarian Finance Forum and AidEx - The Global Humanitarian Aid Community, supported by HIFHUB - hosted by the Danish Red Cross, co-convened the AidEx 2025 Innovative Finance Conference. The two-day event gathered more than 300 participants from 154 organisations from across the humanitarian, donor, and investment sectors to explore how innovative finance, strategic partnerships, and new policy approaches can help close the growing humanitarian financing gap. The event brought together thought leaders and practitioners to explore several critical questions of our time: 🔎 How can we rethink donor strategy to unlock private capital for humanitarian innovative financing? 🔎 Are humanitarian organisations really ready for innovative finance? 🔎 What would it take for investors to fund humanitarian solutions? 🔎 How do pre-arranged and blended finance act as catalysts for sustainable solutions? Did you attend our Fleet Collaboration Challenge at AidEx - The Global Humanitarian Aid Community last week? During this interactive session, participants stepped into the shoes of humanitarian fleet managers facing tough choices in a donor-constrained environment -balancing shrinking budgets, ageing vehicles, and competing priorities. Inspired by game theory, the exercise simulated real-world dilemmas in fleet management and sparked energetic discussions on how collaboration can help us overcome today’s funding challenges and it certainly did! It was fantastic to see such an engaged and diverse group of professionals come together to problem-solve, share insights, and learn from one another. #AidEx2025 | Establishing a global community of practice: Advance staff care, mental health, and psychosocial support for humanitarian workers. Protect Humanitarians took part in AidEx - The Global Humanitarian Aid Community - with a panel on “Establishing a global community of practice: Advance staff care, mental health, and psychosocial support for humanitarian workers” hosted at the International Location Safety Duty of Care Pavilion. During the session, we presented the Community of Practice on Staff Care, Mental Health, and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) centering on local and national responders from Ukraine, who shared their perspectives and experiences related to Duty of Care and the provision of MHPSS in their contexts. Their contributions offered a contextualized understanding of what Duty of Care looks like in Ukraine and how it differs from other settings. Most importantly, their testimonies highlighted the remarkable capacity, resilience, and motivation of local teams — while inviting us to reflect on where our support is most needed. 🙏 A heartfelt thank you to all the speakers who contributed to this important discussion:  Mykola Obelchak, NGO Proliska (Ukraine), Ivana PRYTKA, Charitable Foundation «Rokada» (Ukraine), Iryna Korolchuk – Charitable Foundation «Rokada» (Ukraine), Allison Male – Protect Humanitarians and Melissa Pitotti  – Facilitating the Future LLC .
