Switzerland's DeepTech - AI ecosystem is maturing, and globalizing. On Sept. 24th, we hold an Expert Forum, a curated evening gathering that brought together top founders & executives to explore what it takes to scale AI companies from Switzerland to the world. Held in the intimate setting of one of the iconic locations of HeadsQuarter in Zurich, this Alpine Tech Forum Expert Event featured two high-level panel discussions, a fireside chat, and a networking reception designed for impactful conversations and peer exchange among 50 guests. Walk the streets of Shenzhen and you’ll see driverless taxis or drones delivering food. Turn your head toward Europe and you’ll see committees debating how to glue the caps on the PET bottles. I spent almost two weeks in China searching for new robots for our portfolio. AND I must confess: In that country, speed, resilience and obsession with progress hang in the air. At the table with their entrepreneurs, you discover a mindset shaped by 3,000 years of history, yet burning with the hunger of a 3-month-old startup. They don’t sit around complaining. They don’t wait for the “perfect moment.” They build. They fail. They start again. The first time I saw a driverless taxi or a humanoid robot working in real life, I felt a knot in my stomach. Not because it was dangerous, but because I realized just how far behind we are. I came from Switzerland, where we still spend months negotiating a single small step forward. In Europe we fear risk. In China, risk is the norm. While we still calculate an idea, they’re already testing it. As a speaker invited to business and AI conferences in Zürich and across Europe, I hear the same question over and over: “But what if the idea isn’t good?” In China, the answer is simple: “Let’s try it. If it’s not good, we move on to the next.” That’s why they’re becoming global leaders while Europe falls behind. And for you, reading this now: you don’t need to go to China to learn this lesson. It’s not the person with the best ideas who wins, but the one who executes them faster. Maybe this post is the sign for you to finally take that step you’ve been postponing for far too long, even at the risk of it not turning out exactly as you hoped.
