  • Precise positioning 🧭for more accurate satellite data: Europe's new environmental satellite Sentinel-1D will deliver radar images about our environment 🌍 The satellite’s position in space is determined to within centimeters using our navigation receiver. The more precise the positioning, the more accurate the data provided by the satellite🛰️ Our navigation receiver can process both US GPS and European Galileo signals. It can also compute the new Galileo High Accuracy Service. Currently, Beyond Gravity’s navigation receivers determine the position of around 30 satellites in space. More about our navigation solutions: https://lnkd.in/drj32d-e The Sentinel-1 mission delivers high-resolution radar images of Earth’s surface, performing in all weathers, day-and-night. Sentinel-1D joins its twin, Sentinel-1C. When fully commissioned, it will replace Sentinel-1A, which has been in service for more than 11 years, well beyond its planned lifetime. Sentinel-1D was launched on an Ariane 6 rocket 🚀 on Nov 4 (#VA265) https://lnkd.in/drj32d-e Image credits: European Space Agency - ESA / CNES/Arianespace/ArianeGroup/Optique video du CSG–P. Simply beautiful 😍 👇 🚀 The European Ariane 6 rocket successfully launched a new European environmental satellite into space. Congrats to all involved 👏 👏 Both, the satellite and the launcher use key technology from us. The satellite is e.g. protected from heat and cold in space by our thermal protection. We also delivered support structures for the 12-meter long radar antenna. The launch vehicle uses e.g. our payload fairing and high-temperature insulation.

🌍🚀 Mission accomplished. #VA265 success. From Europe’s Spaceport in French Guiana, #Ariane6 has successfully launched the Sentinel-1D satellite on mission #VA265. 🛰 Sentinel-1D, developed by Thales Alenia Space for the European Commission under contract with ESA, is part of the EU’s Copernicus programme, the world’s most advanced Earth observation system. Equipped with advanced radar instruments, it will provide continuous, all-weather, day-and-night imagery of Earth’s surface, supporting vital monitoring of sea ice, glaciers, subsidence, and oil spills 🌍. This success marks the 3rd commercial flight of #Ariane6 and reaffirms Arianespace’s commitment to environmental missions and to guaranteeing Europe’s autonomous access to space. 👉 Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/egj6CF4z #LaunchingAmbitions Thales Alenia Space ArianeGroup European Space Agency - ESA European Commission

Soon, the European rocket Ariane 6 will lift-off for its fourth flight 🚀 We produced the high-temperature insulation for the rocket engines of the launcher’s main stage and upper stage. Our insulation protects the Vulcain rocket engine (main stage) -so that it can withstand extreme heat of up to 1,500 degrees Celsius for several minutes. Our high-temperature insulation for the upper stage of the Ariane 6 launcher is placed near the Vinci restartable engine. Our insulation consists of glass fabric and polymer films. We also supplied a gimbal mechanism for the upper stage of the rocket. This mechanism serves as a joint that aligns the engine for thrust vector control of the upper stage. Image credit: ESA, S. Important electronics for radar instrument: For the European environmental satellite 🛰️ Sentinel-1D we delivered essential electronic components for the instrument, a 12-meter-long radar antenna. At our site in Gothenburg (Sweden), we designed and produced the uplink and downlink modules, the tile control unit and the transmit module. The satellite is set for launch next week 🚀 We also delivered central parts of the C-band synthetic aperture radar payload as well as the spacecraft’s Telemetry, Tracking and Command TTC antenna 📡 Watch the launch live 📺 https://lnkd.in/dRSUqqBv

A thermal insulation from Beyond Gravity protects the environmental satellite including its 12-meter-long 🛰️ radar antenna from the extreme cold and heat in space. Our multi-layer insulation is made out of several layers of ultra-thin special polyimide foils. The thermal protection will keep the instrument of the satellite at the required operating temperature despite the extremely harsh cold and heat in space. The thermal insulation was designed and produced at our sites in Austria. Nearly every European ESA satellite is protected by thermal insulation from Beyond Gravity.  Sentine-1D's liftoff is scheduled for 4 November at 22:02 CET (21:02 GMT, 18:02 Kourou time). Next Tuesday, the European environmental satellite “Sentinel-1D” 🛰️ is set to launch into space 🚀 We delivered several key products for the earth-observing satellite, like the structure for the 12-meter-long radar instrument, as well as thermal insulation and electronics 👉 https://lnkd.in/dA8_uQU7 "The European Sentinel satellites deliver unparalleled Earth observation data, day and night, in all weather conditions. We’re proud that the newest Sentinel satellite, like its predecessors and successors, relies on our mission-critical components to help safeguard the future of our world”, says Oliver Grassmann, Executive Vice President Satellites at Beyond Gravity. Next week, a new European environmental satellite is set for launch. The main instrument of Sentinel-1D 🛰️is its 12-meter-long radar antenna. Beyond Gravity provided the support structures for the radar instrument. We delivered the primary structural elements of the radar antenna and the antenna support structure (the interface between the SAR and the satellite bus during launch). Both products were designed and produced at our site in Zurich, Switzerland. The advantage of radar is that it can image the Earth's surface through rain and clouds, regardless of the time of day. This makes it particularly useful for monitoring areas prone to long periods of darkness, such as the Arctic, and for providing imagery for emergency response during extreme weather conditions. Europe's next environmental satellite 🛰️ has been encapsulated inside our payload fairing for Ariane 6 🚀 Our fairing has a diameter of 5.4 meters and is made of carbon fiber composite. It was produced at our site in Emmen, Switzerland. The two halves of the payload fairing protect the satellite from the harsh forces experienced during launch and the early flight stages. The launch is scheduled for Tuesday, 4 November, at 22:03 CET from Europe's spaceport in French Guiana (South America).
