Info
CERN is a truly unique organisation. A genuine collaboration between countries, universities, and scientists, driven not by profit margins, but by a commitment to create and share knowledge. People here are part of immense scientific discoveries, answering some of life’s most complex questions and pushing the boundaries of understanding. Experts from every field come here to share in this ambition and the nature of this collaborative, international community creates a genuine atmosphere of trust. People are free to work creatively and to trust in, and rely on, their colleagues across the organisation. History’s being made here – and the excitement is tangible, inspiring, and overwhelming at times. It is the only place in the world where you can do this work in this way. --- If you’ve worked at CERN in the past, why not join the official CERN LinkedIn Alumni group, linked from this page.

Intensity is on the rise at the #LHC 💫 Earlier this month, the Large Hadron Collider propelled particle bunches containing more than 230 billion protons (2.3 x 10^11): 40% more than usual. These bunches generated an average of 150 collisions, compared to around 65 collisions during normal operations. This improved performance of #CERN’s accelerator complex is only possible thanks to the extensive upgrade of its injectors – the four accelerators which boost the protons to higher intensity before injection into the LHC. Each image shows an event – a collection of simultaneous collisions – reconstructed by the CMS Collaboration and the ATLAS Collaboration. In total, 206 collisions were recorded and are shown here for CMS, and 150 collisions for ATLAS. 💡Have you ever wondered what it takes to organise a quantum computing hackathon? Last month, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina - مكتبة الإسكندرية organised and hosted Egypt’s first-ever national quantum computing hackathon. And what better way to learn how to organise your own than by hearing about their experience firsthand? Check out our latest video to discover more about the hackathon in Egypt and what goes into organising one yourself!👉 ✍OQI’s Hackathon in a Box is a resource toolkit developed by OQI to empower the global organisation of quantum computing hackathons with an SDG focus, especially in regions with limited access to the technology.
