Responsible AI that turns awareness into action. At EqualVoice, technology should reduce bias - not reinforce it. That’s why we built the EqualVoice-Assistant: an AI tool that analyzes text in real-time and gives transparent, educational feedback to help make gender representation more balanced. We’re honored that the EqualVoice-Assistant is nominated for the Innovator of the Year Audience Award. Your vote helps advance responsible AI and fair representation in media. Equality matters! The EqualVoice initiative aims to give women and men an equal voice in the media.
Info
“Seeing is believing” EqualVoice, an initiative launched by the Ringier Group, harnesses the power of journalism and technology to champion gender equality. It was launched in November 2019 by CFO Annabella Bassler and co-founded by Katia Murmann. The core mission of EqualVoice is to amplify women's visibility in the media, addressing the disparity where 72% of Swiss media reports focus on men—a figure that aligns with the global statistic of 75%, as reported by the Global Media Monitoring Project 2020. Central to this mission is the "EqualVoice-Factor," a semantic algorithm that measures the representation of women in text, images, and videos. Validated by ETH Zurich, this tool provides scientifically documented insights into media content. Beyond measurement, EqualVoice offers editorial teams resources like the book “the EqualVoice Mindset” or the newly developed EqualVoice Assistant,an AI-based tool to promote conscious and inclusive content creation. The initiative also facilitates workshops and maintains a Female Experts List to ensure diverse voices are featured in media narratives. Expanding its reach, EqualVoice has been integrated into 32 media brands across seven countries, collectively reaching 50 million users.. Through these efforts, EqualVoice strives to create a media landscape where women and men are equally represented, fostering genuine and diverse role models for society.

How do you tackle systemic bias in the media industry? You build an algorithm for equality. 🤖 Annabella Dr. Bassler, CFO and transformation driver at Ringier, is applying her executive mindset and focus on innovation to a global challenge. While she masterfully oversees the company's financial strategy and its digital future, she simultaneously pioneered the EqualVoice initiative. This isn't just a campaign; it’s a commitment to measurable change. By developing the EqualVoice-Factor - which quantifies the visibility of women - and the EqualVoice-Assistant, an AI-powered bias-detection tool, she’s setting a new global standard for promoting gender equality in content. We can't wait for her to rock the stage at the EqualVoice Summit on November 18th 2025! Marc Walder is the CEO of Ringier and the driving force behind its transformation into a leading tech and media company. Since taking the helm in 2012, he has led Ringier through a profound digital shift. With a digital EBITDA share of 82 percent, Ringier now ranks among Europe’s top media companies, operating more than 130 businesses across 19 European and African countries. Its portfolio spans three core areas: leading media brands, sports media platforms, and digital marketplaces. Marc’s ambition extends far beyond the company. As the founder of digitalswitzerland, he is dedicated to strengthening Switzerland’s position as a global digital leader - promoting innovation, startups, and digital education. Equally important is his role as co-leader of EqualVoice, Ringier’s initiative to close the gender visibility gap in media. Guided by his belief that “women and men can achieve more together than alone,” he champions the use of AI and data tools such as the EqualVoice-Factor and EqualVoice-Assistant to measure and improve gender representation across media platforms. This blend of technological foresight and social responsibility defines his leadership. Catch Marc sharing his vision and commitment to parity at the EqualVoice Summit 2025 this November in Warsaw, Poland. 📊 The Global Gender Gap Report 2025 by the World Economic Forum is out. 68.8% of the global gender gap is closed - just +0.3 pp vs. 2024. At this pace, full parity is 123 years away. What needs to happen (now): - Move the bottlenecks: scale women’s economic participation & leadership pipelines across sectors. - Close the implementation gap: turn laws & frameworks into enforcement + culture change. - Use the momentum: progress accelerated. Let’s compress the timeline with measurable action. At EqualVoice, we make visibility measurable and turn insights into daily practice in media and business. 🔗 Full WEF report in comments. #GlobalGenderGap #EqualVoice #WEF25

What an inspiring evening at the "More Women Power" Awareness Panel in Winterthur last Thursday! 🚀 Lea Eberle sharing insights on #WomenPower with Claudia Lässer, Diana Engetschwiler, and Dr. Alina Halank (and expertly led by Seraina Degen) was truly energising. We talked about visibility, mentorship, breaking down barriers - and how to reclaim phrases like "run like a girl" or "throw like a girl" into a statement of ultimate strength. The energy was phenomenal, and the EM Qualifier was the perfect finale! A huge thank you to the Schweizerischer Handball-Verband (handball.ch (SHV)) for facilitating this crucial exchange and shining a spotlight on their #starchgmacht campaign. The conversation is ongoing - let's keep the momentum high for women in sport and business.

We are excited to announce: the EqualVoice Summit returns on November 18, 2025! 🎉 The EqualVoice Summit not only goes international but also dual-track, making a powerful statement by driving the conversation on gender equality across two critical European hubs - simultaneously. 🇵🇱 The EqualVoice Summit in Poland: Our main event, where we focus on equality and tech. We're revealing the next evolution of our EqualVoice-Assistant - taking AI-powered bias detection to a new level for everyone who has a story to tell. 🇨🇭 Fireside chat in Switzerland: Our parallel event featuring Silvana Koch-Mehrin and Carolina Müller-Möhl. This fireside chat focuses on leadership and vision - the human force required to turn insights into meaningful change. Together, these two events demonstrate our dual commitment: using objective data to define the problem, and cultivating courageous, diverse leadership to deliver the solution. We are pushing the movement forward on both the technological and visionary fronts. Two locations, one conversation. Follow us for exclusive insights and updates from both locations!
