ETH for Development - ETH4D hat dies direkt geteilt
ETH for Development - ETH4D, together with Professors Johan Six and Sebastian Doetterl of the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS), ETH Zürich, hosted a workshop towards the development of a course in Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains to be run in Kenya with partnership from University of Embu, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), and the African Milling School, Nairobi, Kenya. Participants in the workshop were from various relevant departments at ETH including the World Food System Center, ETH Zurich, Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST), ETH Zürich and other stakeholders including the ETH Zurich | School for Continuing Education, Eawag, the ETH Foundation and the Bühler Group: Across two days of presentations and discussions, the workshop participants discussed coffee-based value chains in Kenya and the relevance of having a program that caters to the entire value chain from production through processing, logistics and marketing with a clear focus on sustainability. After a very productive workshop, we are looking forward to a proposed summer school on Sustainable Agricultural Value Chains in Kenya in the summer of 2026. We look forward to the Development of this ETH collaboration with African partner institutions.
