In a world facing turbulence and uncertainty, collaboration between science and policy is more crucial than ever. At the inaugural UN-ETH Forum, policymakers, UN representatives, and researchers from around the world gathered at ETH Zürich to explore how science can strengthen peace, drive responsible digitalization, and advance the Sustainable Development Goals. In our latest ETH Ambassadors Blog, researcher Leo Eigner from the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zurich shares his takeaways from this milestone event, where ideas turned into concrete partnerships, and students, scientists, and policymakers joined forces to turn intention into action. What if trees could tell us how mountains move? In our latest ETH Ambassadors Blog, ETH Zürich mathematics student Lorenz Hübel takes us on his journey from equations to evergreens, turning trees into natural sensors for detecting slope movements. During his internship at SLF Davos, he explored how tree rings reveal centuries of geological change, combining data science with environmental research. From mudflows to mountain hikes, Lorenz shares what it’s like to bring mathematical models to life in the Swiss Alps and how curiosity can take you far beyond the classroom. ✨ Digital Einstein meets the world at GITEX Global 2025! ✨ 🚀 At GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, we had the honor of showcasing Digital Einstein at the Swiss Pavilion, bringing ETH Zurich’s vision of interactive AI avatars to one of the world’s largest technology events. Visitors could experience Einstein both on the large physical setup and on the iPad, engaging directly with the avatar in real time. 🎤 During the official opening of the Swiss Pavilion, I had the pleasure of presenting Digital Einstein in a live pitch — joined by H.E. Arthur Mattli, Swiss Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, and Angelica Schempp, Swiss Consul General in Dubai. Both had also the chance to meet and converse with our Digital Einstein in person, experiencing firsthand how AI can make history come alive. 🌍 The latest version of Digital Einstein is now multilingual, understanding and speaking a wide range of languages — including German, Italian, French, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, and many others — all delivered with his distinctive German accent that preserves his recognizable character across languages. 📖 Learn more about Digital Einstein and our research on interactive AI characters: 🔗 ETH News: https://lnkd.in/d6FWYGQ6 🔗 Digital Einstein: https://lnkd.in/dEjap2Wt 🔗 Research: https://lnkd.in/dzBsGHq5 🔗 Publication: https://lnkd.in/dqUwMsb6 👨🔬 Team: Rafael Wampfler, Chen Yang, Philine Witzig, Nikola Kovacevic, Chang Jin Lee, Janis Steffen, Sven Pfiffner, Jeremy Bitar, Markus Gross Many thanks to everyone who helped make GITEX Global 2025 and Digital Einstein a success — and to everyone who stopped by to meet Digital Einstein!
