#LAUNCH — the largest startup conference in the #World’s #1 Innovation City #Zurich, Switzerland 🇨🇭 📍 ETH Zürich | 🗓 October 17, 2025 Today, the monumental halls of ETH Zurich transform into a living laboratory of entrepreneurship. #LAUNCH — the largest startup conference in Zurich — gathers together the intellectual and financial architectures behind Switzerland’s innovation landscape. #Zurich — the World’s Innovation Capital According to the WIPO Global Innovation Index 2025, which assesses 139 economies, Switzerland ranks #1 worldwide for the 14th consecutive year (WIPO GII 2025). The city also leads the IMD Smart City Index 2025, reflecting its unique balance between scientific density, sustainability governance, and entrepreneurial mobility (IMD, 2025). Zurich is innovation nexus where finance, research, and design continuously translate into startups, patents, and global impact. #ETH Zurich — Europe’s Deeptech Engine At the core of this ecosystem stands ETH Zurich, recognized as the top university in Europe in the QS Europe University Rankings 2025 and among the world’s top ten in the global QS ranking (QS Top Universities, 2025). Its entrepreneurial history spans over 50 years, with the first documented spin-off dating back to 1973. As of 2024, ETH spin-offs have generated over 500 active companies, attracting around CHF 425 million in funding in a single year (ETH Spin-off Report 2024). This continuity forms an almost exclusive European model of academic entrepreneurship — an infrastructure where research and venture coexist as a shared language of innovation. The day opens in Audimax with Dr. Thomas Dübendorfer, reflecting on what angel investors can learn from failed startups, followed by Dr. Heiko Visarius on the fragile path “From Idea to Successful Startup.” Prof. Dr. Vanessa Wood situates ETH Zurich as a DeepTech Launchpad, while Dr. Stefan Legge provokes a macroeconomic reflection: Is Europe still the place to be? In parallel, workshops unfold across ETH’s auditoriums: – MetMax on hardware scaling; – Beekeeper on iterative simplicity; – SICTIC on AI-driven digital platforms; – Kellerhals Carrard on spinning out of ETH and managing IP; – Walder Wyss Ltd. on employee incentive plans; – UBS and b2venture on funding and resilient business models; – Technopark Allianz and IGE IPI on product-market fit and intellectual property; – BV4 on decoding startup valuation. The main hall — animated by Talent Kick, optohive, and dozens of startup booths — becomes an agora of cross-sector dialogue, where investors meet founders, and researchers meet markets. This event is not simply about launching companies; it is about launching infrastructures of possibility — where the ETH Entrepreneur Club and SICTIC prototype a distributed coordination architecture for the entrepreneurial Europe-to-come. 🎯 Organized by ETH Entrepreneur Club × SICTIC with partners: VSETH, Technopark Allianz, UBS, b2venture, IGE IPI, and others.
