🔛 Attacking the finishing zones by attacking midfielders (distal side of the ball) 🔛 In modern football, one of the most effective ways to create scoring opportunities is to exploit the arrival of second-wave players in the area. In this context, the focus is on the attacking midfielder, who times his run to reach the finishing zone, often unmarked and in an ideal position to score or provide an assist. 👣 Movement objectives: 1. Create numerical or qualitative superiority in the final third of the pitch. 2. Take advantage of the defenders' distraction by the forwards. 3. Reach the area with momentum and space to make better decisions. 📋 Key points for training 1. Reading the game and timing 👀 - Recognise the right moment to start your run. - Read the positioning and focus of the defenders. 2. Coordinated movements 🧭 - Forwards make runs that draw defenders away. - Rotations and overlaps to create confusion in the defensive line. 3. Timing of entering the area ⏰️ - Not too early (to avoid being marked), not too late (so as not to miss the moment). - Controlled acceleration into space. 4. Finishing skills 🎯 - First-time shots, controlled finishes or intelligent passes. - Use different surfaces of the foot for varied finishing techniques. 5. Communication and tactical routines 💯 - Pre-defined patterns of play involving the attacking midfielder as a surprise element. - Visual or verbal signals between the wingers/full-backs and the midfielder. 🔵⚪️ Women’s football will not thrive by imitation. It will thrive by design. For me, the mistake would be to treat the women’s game as a mirror of the men’s. The international trend confirms it: WSL Football in England, OL Lyonnes in France, Gotham FC and Seattle Reign in the U.S. identity-first strategies accelerate growth. And world-class venues like CPKC Stadium in Kansas City have set a new benchmark for the fan experience. I want to thank Stefano Petruzzo FRGS, our Women’s Football CEO, for leading this transformation with strategy and ambition. His work shows that professionalism in women’s football is not just about budgets or facilities. It is about identity, design and community. 💡 My belief is simple: the future will belong to those who combine identity, innovation and community while leveraging the synergies of major clubs.
