Living in today’s fast-paced, high-stress urban environments doesn’t just affect our minds, it visibly impacts our skin, especially those with sensitive skin. I'm proud to share new findings from a groundbreaking clinical study led by Galderma’s Global Sensitive Skin Faculty (GSSF), offering the first biological evidence that modern living exacerbates sensitive skin at a cellular level. In this real-world study, individuals with sensitive skin in urban areas showed a threefold increase in inflammation and a 16% rise in oxidative stress markers. A higher prevalence of dark spots further illustrates the visible toll of pollution, chronic stress, and poor sleep. These results validate what many healthcare professionals have long suspected; sensitive skin is not just a subjective experience, but a distinct biological condition, and one that is increasingly common, affecting up to 70% of the global population. Have you ever wondered how constant thoughts about food can affect the life of someone living with obesity? At this year’s European Association for the Study of Diabetes e.V. (EASD) Congress, Novo Nordisk presented real-world data showing how obesity treatment can reduce so-called “food noise” — those intrusive thoughts about food that interfere with mental well-being, quality of life, and efforts to manage weight. The results are interesting: during treatment, the number of people reporting these thoughts dropped from 62% to 16%, a 46% reduction. Before treatment, 60% of participants said that food noise negatively affected their lives, and this figure fell to 20% during follow-up. More than 60% reported improvements in mental health, and the majority adopted healthier habits and lifestyle changes. This is significant because treating obesity is also about helping people make conscious choices, regain balance, and live well. By learning from real-world experiences, we continue to refine our solutions and drive change.
