🌎 Members of the Forest Solutions Group are deeply committed to building a circular bio-economy—one rooted in wood from sustainably managed working forests. Crucially, the circular bio-economy plays a central role in climate action, nature-positive outcomes, and supporting people’s livelihoods 🌱👪 Last week, our Director, Bernard de Galembert, had the privilege of amplifying this message at the FAO’s 43rd European Forestry Commission 🌲 ⬇️ Edie Marriner Jessica Fonseca da Silva Bernard de Galembert
I am honored to have participated as a panelist at the FAO 43rd European Forestry Commission in Istanbul on October 23. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with leading experts and stakeholders in the forestry sector from across Europe. During the panel, I spoke about the pivotal role our forests play in advancing the circular bioeconomy. 1️⃣ The circular bioeconomy is more than a trend—it's a global movement, with forests and innovation at its core. 🌍🌲 2️⃣ From advanced biorefineries to bio-based materials replacing fossil inputs, the forest sector is leading the way. But the journey isn’t easy: economic volatility and shifting priorities challenge even the most committed companies. 3️⃣ What’s needed? Investments, stable policies, new skills, and—above all—concrete action. Let’s move from “lab to fab” and make the circular bioeconomy a reality for people, planet, and prosperity. Grateful to the organizers for this invitation and to all the inspiring colleagues who contributed to thoughtful and forward-looking discussions. #CircularBioeconomy #Forestry #Sustainability FAO UNECE Forest and Bioeconomy Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) Caroline O Sullivan Federal Office for the Environment FOEN Alicja Kacprzak Eduardo Rojas Briales İsmail Belen Dr. Georg Rappold, MBA Ewald Rametsteiner European Wood Policy Platform (WoodPoP) Forest Solutions Group
