A quota restricts how much of a\nGoogle Cloud resource your Google Cloud project can use. Quotas\napply to a range of resource types, including hardware, software, and network\ncomponents. For example, quotas can restrict the number of API calls to a\nservice, the number of load balancers used concurrently by your project, or the\nnumber of projects that you can create. Quotas protect the community of\nGoogle Cloud users by preventing the overloading of services. Quotas also\nhelp you to manage your own Google Cloud resources.\n\nThe Cloud Quotas system does the following:\n\n- Monitors your consumption of Google Cloud products and services\n- Restricts your consumption of those resources\n- Provides a way to [request changes to the quota value](/docs/quotas/help/request_increase) and [automate quota adjustments](/docs/quotas/quota-adjuster)\n\nIn most cases, when you attempt to consume more of a resource than its quota\nallows, the system blocks access to the resource, and the task that\nyou're trying to perform fails.\n\nQuotas generally apply at the Google Cloud project\nlevel. Your use of a resource in one project doesn't affect\nyour available quota in another project. Within a Google Cloud project, quotas\nare shared across all applications and IP addresses.\n\n\nThere are also *system limits* on Dataplex Universal Catalog resources.\nSystem limits can't be changed.\n\nDataplex Universal Catalog enforces quotas on the number of API requests during a\nspecific period of time and the number of resources that can be created in a\nproject. Quotas protect you from unforeseen spikes in usage and overloaded\nservices. Learn more about why [quotas are enforced](/docs/quotas/overview).\n\nYour quota needs might increase the more that you use Dataplex Universal Catalog.\nIf a quota is too low to meet your needs, or you expect an upcoming\nincrease in usage, you can proactively [request a quota increase](#request_a_quota_increase).\n\nQuotas for Dataplex API requests\n--------------------------------\n\nThe Dataplex API enforces quotas for Dataplex Universal Catalog resource\nmanagement and search requests at different levels, regardless of their\norigination. This includes the requests originating from API calls directly,\nclient libraries, Google Cloud CLI, and Google Cloud console.\n\nThe following quotas apply to Dataplex Universal Catalog requests:\n\nFor every Dataplex Universal Catalog request that is listed in the following table,\nquota is enforced at both the per-project and per-project-per-user levels.\n\nQuotas for Data Lineage API requests\n------------------------------------\n\nThe Data Lineage API enforces quotas for the following:\n\n- Read requests that only return the data\n- Write requests that create or change the data\n- Create [Open Lineage](/dataplex/docs/open-lineage)\n\nThe following quotas apply to data lineage requests:\n\nQuotas for resources\n--------------------\n\nResource quota is enforced at per-project level for\nthe following resource types: lake, zone, asset, on-demand task, recurring task.\nYou can check your current usage of Dataplex Universal Catalog quota on the\n**Quotas** page in the Google Cloud console.\n\nRequest a quota increase\n------------------------\n\n1. In the Google Cloud console, go to the **Quotas** page.\n\n [Go to Quotas](https://console.cloud.google.com/iam-admin/quotas)\n2. Select the quota you want to modify.\n\n3. Click more_vert**More actions \\\u003e Edit quota**.\n\n4. Enter the new quota value and a request description.\n\n5. Click **Next**.\n\n6. Enter the contact details.\n\n7. Click **Submit request**.\n\nTo adjust most quotas, use the Google Cloud console.\nFor more information, see\n[Request a quota adjustment](/docs/quotas/help/request_increase).\n\nQuota dependencies\n------------------\n\nYour Dataplex Universal Catalog usage might involve other Google Cloud products.\nFor example, data discovery requires invoking Cloud Storage and/or\nBigQuery APIs to interact with the underlying resources.\nThese products have project-level quotas, which include quotas that apply to\nDataplex Universal Catalog use.\n\nQuota pages of other products that you might use with Dataplex Universal Catalog:\n\n- [BigQuery quotas](/bigquery/quotas)\n- [Cloud Storage quotas](/storage/quotas)\n- [Dataproc Metastore quotas](/dataproc-metastore/docs/quotas)\n\nThis list is not exhaustive.\n\nLimits\n------\n\nThe following limits apply to Dataplex Universal Catalog:"]]
