Mobility and Transport

This Commission department is responsible for EU policy on mobility and transport.

Responsibilities

The Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) is responsible for developing mobility and transport policies within the European Union. Transport plays a crucial role in improving quality of life, fostering economic resilience, and tackling climate and environmental challenges. DG MOVE aims to make the transport sector sustainable, efficient, safe, affordable, and accessible through innovation, clear regulations, and reliable funding.

The EU transport policy supports five key priorities: (i) the European Green Deal, (ii) a digital-ready Europe, (iii) an economy that works for people, (iv) a stronger global presence, and (v) promoting the European lifestyle. DG MOVE significantly contributes to advancing the European Green Deal and adapting to climate and digital transitions, guided by the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy.
