
OV/OVS (Open Value en Open Value Subscription)
The Microsoft Open Value (OV) and Open Value Subscription (OVS) agreements are part of Microsoft’s Volume Licensing programs designed for organizations with 5 to 499 users or devices.
Open Value
- 3-year Purchase agreement
- Annual/Upfront renewal / ordering
- Creation of an agreement via the Eagreements tool from Microsoft. Customer signs the agreement by mail.
- Minimum entry is 5 licenses
- Price protection for 3 years (exceptions e.g. VDA, O365, subscriptions)
- Additons are possible at the price of the month in which additional orders are placed and always for 12 months (price).
- No possibility to decrease in number
- Software Assurance is mandatory
- Delivery = email with agreementnumber (V123456) with which the software can be downloaded on the Microsoft 365 Admin center.
- Corporate/Governemental/Academic/Charity pricing is available
- Possibility to choose between company or non-company wide for the desktop products (win OS / Cal / Office)
- After having paid for 3 years the end customer is the owner of the licenses and can optain to renew the SA part in a new OV agreement
- Ordering possible through the Software Store or mail to [email protected]
Open Value Subscription
- 3-year Rental agreement with spread payment
- Annual renewal / ordering
- Creation of an agreement via the Eagreements tool from Microsoft. Customer signs the agreement by mail.
- Minimum entry is 5 licenses
- Price protection for 3 years (exeptions e.g. VDA )
- Additions of products already included in the agreement can be ordered at the original price and always for 12 months. Additional products that are not yet included in the agreement are possible at the price of the month in which the order is placed and always for 12 months.
- Ability to decrease the quantity (down to 5 licenses for desktop products and 0 for additionel products)
- Software Assurance is mandatory
- Delivery = email with agreement number (V123456) with which the software can be downloaded on the Microsoft 365 Admin center..
- Corporate/Governemental and Academic pricing is available
- Commitment to order minimum 1 desktop product (win OS / Cal / Office) for all pc’s within the company. (This means that when you order win OS upgrade or Office or windows cals or exchange cals you must buy these for all pc’s within the company. The customer is entitled to a platform discount if he goes company wide for all the 3 desktop products.)
- After having paid for 3 years the end customer is NOT the owner of the licenses
- Buy-out is possible in the last month of the agreement and order needs to be place before the end date of the agreement

To consider…
OV: If you prefer to own the licenses permanently, OV is the way to go.
OVS: If you prefer a subscription model with lower upfront costs and flexibility to adjust the number of licenses annually, OVS is better.
