- Barter Bluff is a prominent rock bluff 1.5 nautical miles (3 km) west of Leister Peak in the Kohler Range, Marie Byrd Land. The bluff forms part of the steep wall along the east side of Kohler Glacier. It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and from U.S. Navy air photos, 1959–66, and named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for , Ship's Engineer on the Eleanor Bolling during the Byrd Antarctic Expedition, 1928–30, and on both the Bear of Oakland and the during the Byrd Antarctic Expedition, 1933–35. Der United States Geological Survey kartierte das Kliff anhand eigener Vermessungen und Luftaufnahmen der United States Navy aus den Jahren von 1959 bis 1966. Das Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names benannte es 1978 nach Leland Lasater Barter (1897–1986), Schiffsingenieur auf der Eleanor Bolling während der ersten (1928–1930) sowie sowohl auf der als auch auf der Jacob Ruppert während der zweiten Antarktisexpedition (1933–1935) des US-amerikanischen Polarforschers Richard Evelyn Byrd.
