This was promoted as a Winter series where young and upcoming racing drivers could get valuable seat and track time during the off-season months in competitive tracks in Asia. This was supported by MRF Ltd in its entirety and was a unique concept of "Arrive and Drive" which meant that the drivers would not have the hassle of making all arrangements. They would pay for a seat in the Championship and everything would be taken care of by the organizers. (en)

Het kampioenschap is een winterkampioenschap, dat wordt gehouden tussen de maanden oktober en februari. Het kampioenschap is gericht op jonge coureurs. Er worden twee kampioenschappen verreden. Het eerste kampioenschap is een Formule 2000-kampioenschap met een 2.0-liter motor van Renault, waar het grootste deel van de coureurs niet uit India komt. Het tweede kampioenschap is een Formule 1600-kampioenschap met een 1.6-liter motor van Ford, waar enkel coureurs uit India meedoen.
