Readers of this blog may remember that a former inhabitant of Dewey Manor (Jonathan Furner) was a fan of the Canaries. (And for the unenlightened, the Canaries are a football club). None of the remaining editors are such football fanatics, but it has not escaped our notice that a worldwide sporting competition is currently taking place in Germany. And one editor (the author of this blog entry) is pleased that his country's team has managed to score its first 3 World Cup goals, in the last 10 minutes of its most recent match -- though their next game is against Brazil, the favorites to win the current FIFA World Cup competition, so I might not be so happy on Sunday.
Of course, the FIFA World Cup does have its own Dewey number, 796.334668 World Cup competition, even though for most people in the US the word "football" means 796.332 American football, and not 796.334 Soccer (Association football). However, I can't complain about that -- in my country "football" is equally likely to mean 796.3338 Rugby League and 796.336 Australian-rules football.
I'm not a big 796.334668 fan, but do enjoy 796.332 often.
Thanks for the clever use of the ddc.
