A timely report to check out in these interesting times for research (in)security!
📢Balancing openness and security in research – Science Europe's latest report on Research Security is now out! Science thrives on collaboration, crossing borders and connecting minds. Today’s shifting geopolitical landscape brings new challenges, touching every corner of the research ecosystem and influencing the core values of #openness, #integrity, and #academicfreedom. Our new report explores how these challenges can be navigated responsibly, offering 6 key messages and actions, resulting from the January-June 2025 workshops, to help research organisations strike the right balance between collaboration and security: 🛡️ International co-operation must be safeguarded. 🛡️ Defining boundaries is essential. 🛡️ Measures and due diligence should be proportionate. 🛡️ Research security should be embedded through awareness raising and culture change. 🛡️ National R&I ecosystems require capacity building. 🛡️ Research security requires systemic support and a collaborative approach. Science Europe is also joining the conversation as co-organisers at the European Flagship Conference on Research Security, with panel sessions on academic freedom and research security across national research funders and research performers. 👉Read the full report here: http://bit.ly/3Ws8brx #ResearchSecurity #EUResearchSecurity2025
