A r c h_M a n u H a c k a t h o n As part of the ArchManu ARC Next-Gen Architecture Research Program and its ongoing series of #hackathon events, our colleagues Alina Schuster and Matthew Tam joined forces with Cox Architecture and researchers from UNSW, Adelaide University, and Swinburne University of Technology to explore how AI can drive low-carbon innovation in structural design. Their project, 'Agentic Graph Intelligence for Decarbonising Structural Design', introduces a graph-based framework that redefines optimisation, moving beyond material reduction toward a relational understanding of geometry, connectivity, and semantics. Through agentic AI orchestration, specialised agents interpret the Structural Graph Database to propose design adjustments that balance structural performance and carbon reduction moving toward AI-readable, data-driven structures where design, fabrication, and sustainability are intelligently connected. Congratulations to the entire team for advancing the future of computational engineering and sustainable design! Team: Alina Schuster, Matthew Tam, Andrew Butler, Hirusheekesan Selvanesan, Alireza Abdolmaleki, and Mahdi Fard. S p e c k l e c o n Our colleagues, Ljuba Tascheva and Alexander H., will be in London on 6 November, catching up with design partners of Bollinger+Grohmann to exchange ideas on digital workflows, design technology, and digital transformation. On the following day, 7 November, they will take the stage for their talk ‘Hitchhiking Through the Collaboration Multiverse.’ Their session will explore how data-centric workflows can make collaboration more seamless and connected through Speckle. They will not only provide an overview of the tools and workflows but also share lessons and experiences they have gathered along the way. L e c t u r e Invited by Maison de l'architecture des Pays de la Loire, Klaas De Rycke will join architects and researchers to explore the preservation and reinterpretation of 20th-century industrialised architecture. His contribution will reflect on several studies related to Jean Prouvé’s demountable constructions, questioning the fine line between restoration and reinterpretation. What is it that we truly seek to preserve: the shape, the structural system, or the tacit intelligence of the gesture itself? The lecture will provide a technical and critical reflection on how contemporary engineering can translate this implicit knowledge into explicit tools, thereby extending Prouvé’s spirit of experimentation and innovation within today’s regulatory and technical frameworks. To attend the lecture: https://lnkd.in/ed2XEMh5 Tomorrow, Tuesday 4 November, starting at 19:30 (CET) at ECOLE NATIONALE SUPERIEURE D'ARCHITECTURE DE NANTES - Auditorium.

C l i m a t e F e s t i v a l On 20 November, our colleague Christian Wrede, structural engineer and sustainability expert at B+G Düsseldorf, will participate in a panel discussion with HPP Architekten GmbH at the fourth edition of the ‘Klimafestival für die Bauwende’ in Berlin. The session, ‘Everything is Communication – A Shared Attitude Shapes Collective Action,’ will explore how interdisciplinary collaboration can drive meaningful and measurable change in the building industry. It serves as a national platform for professionals in architecture, engineering, construction, and design to exchange ideas on the future of climate-neutral, circular, and resource-efficient building practices. Christian will share insights from a structural and sustainability perspective, highlighting how integrated planning and shared understanding across disciplines can accelerate the transition towards low-carbon, high-performance buildings. When: 20 November, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Where: Luckenwalder Str. 4–6, 10963 Berlin For more information and tickets: https://lnkd.in/eEXjitMU Visual: ©Klimafestival #sustainability #berlin #klimafestival #engineering #architecture #construction

D A M R e c a p Back in image with Klaas De Rycke’s lecture at DAM last Thursday, titled “Hinter den Kulissen 2.0”. The title refers to the exhibition we did with DAM years ago at the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt as part of the series “Friends 30 Years of Lectures” on the history of Bollinger+Grohmann. His talk explored past and present projects, focusing on the further development of working methods and technology at the hand of selected projects such as the Stage Canopy Mauthausen, the UFA Palace, EPFL Rolex-Learning Center, the Bahrain Pavilion-Connecting Seas in Osaka, ... He explained how things were done in the past and how they are done today, and whether there has been a real improvement. Moreover, through these projects, he discussed topics that have shaped B+G, including digital evolution, such as BIM planning and parametric work processes, the focus on sustainability and durability of buildings, and design issues and materials. We would like to thank DAM and the friends of DAM's association for the invitation. #lecture #dam #frankfurt #recap #engineering #past #present #future
