IIMEO (Instantaneous Infrastructure Monitoring by Earth Observation) is a project funded by the European Union as an innovation action under the Horizon Europe programme. It aims to develop an end-to-end solution for real-time operational monitoring of critical infrastructures in high resolution using an innovative observation payload for a future constellation of small satellites in LEO. The project will be carried out by the following partners: - OHB Digital Connect (Project Coordinator) - Fondazione Bruno Kessler - Institut für angewandte Systemtechnik Bremen - Antwerp Space - Fraunhofer FHR - University of Niš As a pilot application, the monitoring of railways will be demonstrated in a flight campaign planned for 2025. My visit of the #geoweek2025 continued successfully: I joined the presentation of Salvatore Stramondo from #INGV about "EO monitoring of critical infrastructures" and continued with an intense discussion about this rising topic. There seems to be a good potential for cooperation with #IIMEO. Moreover I had good discussions with Massimo Ciscato and Natassa Antoniou from #HaDEA concerning the progress of the #IIMEO project. Great day... 👍

Visualization is the key 🛫! With the General Assembly currently taking place in Serbia, we are jointly leading the consortium into the final third of the IIMEO project’s duration. By the end of the project, we will demonstrate the performance of an on-board data processor using an aircraft, which will later be able to detect obstacles on, for example, railway tracks from a satellite. During the General Assembly, we also took the opportunity to visit the airport for the demonstration and inspected possible rail sections where obstacles could be placed. What could be more fitting than to visualize this flight? Once again, many thanks to Danijela Ristic-Durrant , Milan Banic, Milos Simonovic and the entire team at the University of Niš for the excellent organization and outstanding hospitality.
