How can AI be deployed responsibly in defense, and how can trust be built in mission-critical systems?    These were just some of the questions explored during the third meeting of the Expert Group 'AI for Defense & Security' at ⭕️KI Park Berlin on 8th of October.    Responsible AI in defense isn’t a nice-to-have – it’s a strategic imperative to ensure security, sovereignty and ethical innovation at scale.    Featuring a powerful keynote, an engaging panel, and hands-on sessions, the event brought together experts from research, industry, defense, and policy to explore the future of AI in security-sensitive domains. 💡 The keynote by Dr. Armando Geller set the tone – highlighting the importance of embedding ethics into practice and the principles for a responsible, context-aware use of AI. The following panel brought together leading voices from diverse fields.  Prof. Dr. Gabi Dreo Rodosek shared insights on cyber resilience and critical infrastructures.  Prof. Dr. Werner Vogd offered a sociological perspective on trust, risk, and uncertainty.  Dr. Armando Geller connected conflict research with principles of AI adoption.  Olly Salzmann highlighted the business perspective on testing and accountability. The session was moderated by Lars Ruth. ⚙️ The day concluded with an interview and a workshop hosted by BWI GmbH(Maximilian Brendel) and Deloitte (René Heinitz), offering deep insights into their joint project on AI readiness and governance.  The main takeaway: governance doesn’t slow innovation – it enables it. 🔐 Next focus: AI & Cyber Security (Q1/2026)  The Expert Group will continue its work with a focus on cyber security – exploring practical use cases, governance approaches, and trust frameworks for secure AI systems. We’re looking for keynote speakers, startup demos, and real-world case studies not only on cyber security, but also across the broader AI & defense landscape.
