🌱 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 ♻️ Our planet is under pressure. Global temperatures are already +1.2 °C above pre-industrial levels. More than 2 billion tons of waste are generated each year, and less than 10 % of plastics are recycled. These numbers remind us that incremental change is no longer enough we need regenerative systems that work for both people and the planet. At the Vietnamese-German University (VGU), during the 50-Year Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Vietnam and Germany, Christina Jäger, our Co-Founder & Managing Director Yunus Environment Hub, gave a keynote where government leaders, policymakers, academia, business, and civil society came together to exchange perspectives on strategies for a more inclusive, climate-positive future. 💡 Key highlights underscored what it takes to move from vision to action: ✔ No single actor can drive systemic change alone academia, business, and civil society must collaborate as equals. Partnerships matter! ✔Local ownership ensures longevity. Solutions thrive when they are designed and led by the communities they serve. ✔Inclusion and data create resilience. When everyone’s voice is counted and progress is tracked transparently, impact becomes sustainable. ✔Persistence defines success. Regenerative economy transformations take time; long-term commitment is the real catalyst for change. Thanks to Vietnamese-German University for convening policy, academic, and business leaders from Vietnam and Germany to accelerate progress toward a more sustainable future. #SystemicChange #RegenerativeEconomy #SocialBusiness #ClimateAction #3Zeros Photo Credit: Vietnamese-German University

🌍 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 Last week in Istanbul, Christina Jäger, Co-Founder & Managing Director of Yunus Environment Hub and Jose Manuel Moller, Founder & CEO of Common House, announced the launch of Open Reuse, a new open-source platform designed to scale sustainable reuse systems worldwide, with support from the Röchling Foundation. ♻️ With over 140 million tonnes of plastic packaging produced every year, and less than 9% recycled, reuse models offer one of the most powerful pathways to reduce waste. According to the PEW Breaking the Plastic Wave report, reuse can cut packaging mass by up to 88%. 💡 Open Reuse closes critical knowledge gaps that have held back the growth of reuse systems. Built on Jose Manuel Moller and Algramo’s pioneering experience and YEH's global expertise in scaling social business models, the platform provides step-by-step guides, digital tools, and practical resources to help organizations design, launch, and scale reuse solutions that are impactful, inclusive, and financially sustainable. Thanks for the Zero Waste Foundation forum for providing us a global stage to share Open Reuse! 🔗 Want to get started with Open Reuse? 🌱𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺! Yunus Environment Hub joined global leaders at the Global Zero Waste Forum 2025 in Istanbul to explore how communities, businesses, and policymakers can turn waste into solutions. A key highlight during the Forum was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Yunus Environment Hub and the Zero Waste Foundation, marking a shared commitment to scale impact through circular and zero waste systems. This collaboration sets the stage for joint action to: ✔Strengthen local governance for zero waste cities and regions ✔Build municipal capacities for circular economy implementation ✔Foster sustainable development aligned with global agendas such as the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda 📌Another major milestone at the event was the launch of Open Reuse, a collaboration with Jose Manuel Moller CEO of Common House and with support from Röchling Foundation to help reuse implementers around the globe with practical tools, know-how and more! We were also thrilled to see Yunus Environment Hub alumni and collaborators Padmad KE, REVNICS ENERGY, iRefill and afb group take the stage and showcase how social businesses are driving the transition from waste to value from refill models and repair services to renewable energy and zero waste menstrual health solutions. 💪Their work demonstrates how social business models can move the world beyond linear systems driving circular, zero-waste solutions that reduce waste at the source and create lasting economic opportunities for communities. A big thank you to the organizers of the Global Zero Waste Forum for creating an inspiring and collaborative space to reimagine waste not as an end, but as a valuable resource driving the circular transition forward. #ZeroWaste #YEH #GlobalZeroWasteForum #WasteInnovation #SocialBusiness Photo Credit: Zero Waste Foundation Madhvi Dalal, Daniel Büchle, Rajneesh Kumar Patel, AbdulBasit Bashir, Christina Jäger, Röchling Foundation, PREVENT Waste Alliance, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH

Reuse systems are becoming an essential part of how industries address plastic waste and resource efficiency. They offer practical pathways to reduce dependence on single-use materials while building more resilient circular value chains. To dive deeper into the reuse topic, Yunus Environment Hub Program Director Kiara Winona Sweeney recently participated in the POLYPROBLEM Camp, hosted by Röchling Foundation and Wider Sense GmbH and implemented by Stiftung Bürgermut in Frankfurt. Kiara led the conversation on “Reuse systems as a key to a sustainable future,” where she shared insights on Open Reuse, an open source platform created in collaboration between Yunus Environment Hub and Jose Manuel Moller, founder and CEO of Algramo, with support from the Röchling Foundation. The platform aims to accelerate the global adoption of reuse models by combining knowledge, real-world examples, and practical tools to make implementation easier and more effective. 💡 During the exchange with social businesses, academia, and institutional partners, three key takeaways stood out: 1️⃣ Collaboration accelerates adoption – cross-sector partnerships are essential to overcome fragmentation and scale reuse systems effectively. 2️⃣ Knowledge sharing is critical – many working models exist, but they need to be made visible, transferable, and practically usable for others. 3️⃣ Implementation support matters – tools, templates, and real-world examples can lower entry barriers and empower municipalities, businesses, and communities to act. A big thank you to the organizers of the POLYPROBLEM Camp for creating an open and inspiring exchange on how we can drive the circular transition forward together.
