Together, ZF and Horizon Robotics are introducing an Advanced Driver Assistance System to the Chinese market, supporting up to SAE Level 3 of assisted driving and China’s urban “Navigate on Autopilot” (NOA). 🇨🇳 Scheduled for mass production and delivery in 2026, the system will be applied to an electric vehicle platform of a Chinese automobile brand. ‼️Executive Board completed: The ZF Supervisory Board appoints Andreas Moser as Member of the Board of Management. Andreas Moser, previously head of the ZF Industrial Technology division, was appointed to the Board of Management for the Commercial Vehicle Solutions and Industrial Technology Divisions and the India Region, effective November 1, 2025. Sebastian Schmitt has been appointed head of the Electrified Powertrain Technology (E) division, in which ZF has bundled its conventional, hybrid and electric passenger-car drivetrain technologies. He currently heads the Electrified Powertrain Systems product line. CEO Mathias Miedreich remains responsible for the E division on the Board of Management. 🌱In the race toward sustainable mobility, ZF has taken a bold step forward with its I²SM (In-Rotor Inductive-Excited Synchronous Motor) – a magnet-free electric motor that redefines efficiency and environmental responsibility. ZF’s I²SM is magnet-free, resource-saving, and future-ready. Unlike a conventional permanent-magnet synchronous motor (PSM), which rely on rare earth metals in its magnets, the I²SM uses inductive excitation inside the rotor shaft. This innovation eliminates the need for magnets, significantly reducing the CO₂ footprint of production by up to 50%. Why it matters: 💡No rare earths = less environmental impact from mining and extraction. 💡Inductive energy transfer = 15% lower transmission losses vs. conventional separately excited synchronous motors (SESMs). 💡High torque and power density = performance on par with PSMs, without the sustainability trade-offs. ZF presents new rail gearbox: Specially Made in India for India ZF is unveiling a new rail gearbox during the IREE 2025 (International Railway Equipment Exhibition) from October 15-17, 2025. The single-stage spur gear drive is purpose-built for the nation’s railways. True to the company’s claim of ‘Redefining India's mobility’, the gearbox is designed for reliable, efficient performance under harsh conditions. For Indian railways, the trains brave heat, humidity and snow, as well as winding sections and curves, changes in elevation, and stretches where the track needs maintenance and modernization. “These factors demand a lot from the driveline,” says Markus Gross, Head of Product Line Rail Drive Systems at ZF. “We are proud to present technology that the Indian Railways can depend on.
