📢 NEW report from Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance: Adaptation Finance & the Private Sector - Challenges & Opportunities for the Developing Countries. He is part of the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII) team, working on the IKI-funded project “Climate Risk Adaptation and Insurance in the Caribbean (CRAIC).”   👁️‍🗨️ “What makes IKI special to me is … … that the funding programme transforms global climate ambition into real and practical action, especially for those who need it most. I survived the 2004 tsunami in Aceh and experienced what it’s like to lose everything in a single day. Since then, I have wanted to work on improving disaster risk management — to help people feel safer and to create impact so that communities can recover more quickly after disasters. What makes this IKI project special for me is that it’s not just a job to put food on the table — it also allows me to make a meaningful impact on climate action and disaster risk management.   👁️‍🗨️ I am proud that our project has managed to … … bring climate risk insurance to thousands of farmers, fishers, and informal workers in the Caribbean — many of whom never had access to insurance before. I’m also proud of our works with private insurance companies. Together, we have developed simple and affordable insurance products that pay out quickly after extreme weather events. This helps people get back on their feet and continue with their lives after a disaster.   👁️‍🗨️ Looking ahead, my wish for my IKI project work is … … that this work will continue even after the project ends. I want to see more insurance companies offering these kinds of products in more countries across the Caribbean. I also hope that many countries will adopt them. In addition, I wish that governments integrate these insurance solutions into their national systems, so that more vulnerable and low-income people have the opportunity to protect their livelihoods when extreme events happen. For me personally, I also hope that our project becomes a good example — showing how collaboration and partnership with the private sector can help develop inclusive and affordable insurance. Financial Stability Board (FSB) Roadmap for Addressing Financial Risks from Climate Change A Global Push Toward Climate-Resilient Finance The Financial Stability Board (FSB) has released its 2025 update to the Roadmap for Addressing Financial Risks from Climate Change, a coordinated international effort originally welcomed by the G20. Key highlights from the Roadmap: 1. Firm-level Disclosures: Momentum builds globally for adoption of ISSB standards. Over 1,000 companies are transitioning from TCFD to ISSB-aligned reporting. 2. Data: Significant efforts underway to improve the quality, comparability, and forward-looking nature of climate-related financial data particularly in emerging markets. 3. Vulnerabilities Analysis: Analytical frameworks and scenario tools are evolving to assess how physical and transition risks can impact global financial stability. 4. Regulatory Practices: International bodies like BCBS, IOSCO, IAIS, and others are issuing guidance to integrate climate risks into supervisory frameworks aiming to close insurance protection gaps and promote resilience. 5. The FSB continues its role as a convener and coordinator, pushing for shared tools, comparable standards, and better alignment across jurisdictions. This roadmap is more than a document, it’s a signal of commitment to climate-aware financial systems and resilient economies. ❗ Just released: Joint report highlights the benefits of social infrastructure investment and MDBs’ enabling role. 🌍 "Social Infrastructure in Focus: The Role of Multilateral Development Banks" compiles contributions from 10 MDBs, coordinated by the CEB as Chair of the Heads of MDBs Group. 👷‍♀️ The report underscores the systemic importance of social infrastructure for achieving the SDGs and as a strategic investment key for jobs, inclusive growth, and resilience. 🏥 All MDBs are engaged in advancing social infrastructure – on average around 22% of MDB financing commitments were directed to core social sectors between 2019 and 2023, with US$52 billion committed in 2023 alone. 💬 EFRAG has launched a 60-day public consultation survey to gather feedback from stakeholders across the EU corporate reporting ecosystem. Last month, Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) Co-Chairs David Craig and Razan Al Mubarak shared an open letter to EFRAG outlining suggestions for simplifying the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) as part of the omnibus review of #CSRD. This #consultation survey will inform EFRAG's technical advice to the European Commission on revising and simplifying the #ESRS. We encourage organisations to read our letter, which recommends consolidating the current nature-related standards (E2–E5) into one integrated nature standard (a new ESRS E2) covering all realms of nature and four of the five IPBES drivers of change.
